My R1S has been in with Rivian Service for about a week. I reached out about the status today and this is the response I got. ?

Not sure how big the dent is or where it is. I haven’t picked up my car yet. Hoping it really is small and can actually be removed.

But… just want to give a shoutout to Rivian for owning up to your mistakes and going out of the way to fix the problem proactively. ??

Not surprised. It’s happened to me (twice!). Their PDR guy worked his magic and I can’t tell there was ever a dent. This is on top of my PPF as well.

The only thing I didn’t get from the SC either time was an admission of guilt. I was ok with that since they took care of me.

My service dent experience differs slightly. I drove the 200 miles to p/u after service and during the walk around with the Service Rep before I accepted it I notice a big dent and scrape in the tail gate. He didn't notice it when he went in the back to bring it out to me. He called the service manager to look at. All kinds of apologies. Sent me back home in a different loaner. They replaced the tailgate and delivered it on a flat bed 2 weeks later. All good but a huge hassle and disappointing at the lack of attention to detail by the service team.

I've had denting in two different occasions. It's really my only complaint with service.

They took care of mine too. The bodyshop the Gaithersburg SC uses dented my car and PDR guy the SC hired fixed it to perfection. No complaints at all.. one happy customer here…

Same here. Went in to have the gear tunnel
Latch fixed and got the truck back three weeks later with a big dent in the GT door and the latch still broken. To their credit they are fixing the dent but it’s my third time back to SC for same latch problem and now dent repair. They are universally nice but can’t seem to get their shit together.

A skilled PDR guy can make dents disappear like magic. It's 100% the way to go if there's no broken paint in/around the dent.

Did they send you pictures of the dent? I would have demanded that before work was done so you can compare the result. Good luck with the repair.

I wanted to chime in and also express my gratitue for Rivian's candidness of their actions. They are not afraid to own up to their mistakes. I've had a couple of instances when the truck was in for service and they informed me of issues that they "created" and fixed.

They have also never questioned items I've pointed out as a result of their service.

That's why it's imperative that you the owner, take lots of detailed, hi-res photos of your vehicle after you drive it to the Rivian SC. Also, make sure you can see by the photos your vehicle is in the SC so there is no wiggle room for Rivian to try to say the photos were taken earlier than the drop off day. Lots and lots of dents happening at the highly congested, parking constrained SC's.
