You need to find a new tire shop OP…. No issues rotating tires. Just lift the vehicle and rotate them. Doesn’t take that long at all and not a big deal.

It’s a quickjack 7000 tlx. Got it mainly for my model 3 with hopes I could lift the Rivian. It does work for the Rivian but you need to be pretty careful a go easy when lifting the Rivian. Wish they made longer frames that would reach the Rivian jack points without turning the lifts sideways.

I had jack pucks in hand before I took delivery of the truck based on the aforementioned threads on this forum about them.

Pucks are available from many retailers. Personally they are of much higher quality then what Rivian is offering with their jack kit. I like the ones from Jackpucks.com and EVSportline as a close second.

Also Discount Tire (American tire in some regions) has them (at most locations) as Rivian's preferred partner.

Lastly if you look at the manual there is a procedure for lifting the truck without a puck, with a floor jack. It requires removing the small panels where the pucks go.

Surely, the included Jack would be able to lift the vehicle in an emergency.

You should strongly consider getting a spare. If Rivian won't sell you, buy from third party sellers. Tires failures can leave you in the middle of nowhere. I had a recent close call, but somehow the tire held off the massive bolt on my other car.

We are also unlikely to find replacement tires easily in an emergency

It’s not included with he R1, it’s included with the spare tire kit. If you didn‘t buy the kit, you don’t get the parts in the kit. While I was disappointed the spare tire kit had been sold out for months, I never thought to be upset about not being able to buy the individual parts (e.g. jack, wrench, puck, etc.) from the kit.

Boy! Talk about a long rant over nothing. I bought a set of magnetic jack pucks on line. (don't get the ones with the rubber o-ring they don't stay in place). They were not expensive and work great. When I take my truck in for tire rotation I give them to the mechanic and put the truck in tire change mode for them. No problem.

And they could sell profitably for under $50 for a set of four. I'm thinking about making them and offering them to the R1 community. Thoughts?

I mean you won't make any money. Check Amazon already like 50 sellers selling them near that price for metal offerings. You can certainly buy them cheap and they will do the job. I strongly recommend ones with magnets at least, it makes the job a lot easier because you put them in the hole and then they stay while you get the jack in place.

I accidentally left one of my jackpucks.com jack pucks attached to the bottom after my last tire swap. It stayed there for several days and several hundred miles until I noticed it. As with anything you pay for what you get but with diminishing returns the more you pay.
