I decided to go ahead and sign up for Connect+. I signed Opal (our R1T) up for the annual program on the Rivian Website. I decided to give it a year and see if it's something that I want to stay with. What I look forward to most is Google Cast and YouTube feature. I really hope that these features become available in the very near future.

They will right about when everyone’s free trial comes up. I would bet that’s the play all along to show some value out of connect+. And yes … I would do it the same way if I was making calls at Rivian. ?

My paid Connect+ contract begins on October 15th. This is the date on which the free trial ends.

For the once per week I use my truck, I can do without it. If they reconsider the pricing, bringing it in line with Tesla, then just maybe I'd splurge and go all in for a year ;)

Do they charge you now or when the free trial ends?

I'll likely do the same. Not a fan of Apple Music TBH, it seems glitchy every morning, do you guys have the same issue?

I received an email from Rivian confirming my subscription and thanking me for joining. My account says that my first billing period will be October 15th. This is the date that the free trial of Connect+ ends. You can find your Connect+ account details on the Rivian Website under the tab "Upgrades".

Same situation here. I only drive my R1T once a week and it's not worth to pay for the connectivity...

My reasoning behind not subscribing is twofold... other then the financial reason for not subscribing, I specifically want to see how not being connected impacts vampire drain.
My "theory" is that Rivian will not pay to continue LTE service at all (some here have suggested Rivian will pay for some sort of "limited?" LTE service for datamining, etc.. even if we do not subscribe to Driver+), and therefore there would be no way or reason to constantly communicate with the mother ship and drain the 12V batts so they wouldn't need constant recharging.

It would be hilarious if not subscribing to Driver+ pretty much solves the vampire drain issue :D

@NY_Rob even without Connect+, I'd predict there will be at least some sort of LTE connection to maintain at least some functions (like the SOS feature).

If the Rivian forces me to buy the connectivity+ in such a way that impacts the navigation then I am selling the Rivian without any hesitation. I paid $100K for the car and lost $80K as an owner of the Rivian stock I am done! They won't squeeze any more money out of me.

Perhaps, but then they will still be losing money on owners every month.

The only issue I have with Apple Music is having to push the play button for music to start EVERY SINGLE time I get in the car. Other than that, I don't notice any glitches.
