I'll likely do the same. Not a fan of Apple Music TBH, it seems glitchy every morning, do you guys have the same issue?
I do. Everytime in morning it's like it has to reload everything from scratch or something. Have to press play several times or even back up to a different playlist, etc... or it just sits there stuck.

Definitely has bugs that need to be squashed.

I'm hesitant, but will probably pay the tax.

I wish Apple Music supported profiles. My driving profile should be my AM login. My wife's should be linked to her AM login. As it is currently, it appears to be only 1 login for the vehicle.

I signed up immediately. The folks complaining about it make no sense. If you would like Rivian to continue to update software for a car you have purchased, why should you not pay for it - I believe it even includes a cellular hotpot.

I prefer a semi-SaaS model vs. the stangant tech packages of old and more than happy to pay nominal amount a year - in fact it's like two sandwiches a month. The folks complaining are beyond silly IMO...

I decided to go ahead and sign up for Connect+. I signed Opal (our R1T) up for the annual program on the Rivian Website. I decided to give it a year and see if it's something that I want to stay with. What I look forward to most is Google Cast and YouTube feature. I really hope that these features become available in the very near future.

On your app, when you click on "manage account" then to "upgrades", do you see the app for remote camera view? My neighbors Rivian app shows it on 2024.35.xx, but he is an employee, so mileage may vary.

No, all mine shows is that I have signed up for the annual Connect+. My R1T is still on 2024.27.

A little hint at what’s coming in .35?

I’m new only having new Gen 2 for a week now…if I’m on .31 update does that mean .35 is 4 updates away? Do they typically go up 1 number each time? That would be great to have remote view! I’m on board with others that I’ll be signing up at end of trial. If you can afford these vehicle prices the annual or monthly subscription is minimal for the ability to continue to get upgrades.

No. They are on a week based release campaign. Usually but not always about 4 weeks apart, so the number will increment on that basis.

If the Rivian forces me to buy the connectivity+ in such a way that impacts the navigation then I am selling the Rivian without any hesitation. I paid $100K for the car and lost $80K as an owner of the Rivian stock I am done! They won't squeeze any more money out of me.
They’ve been pretty clear what the connect+ will add and the effect of not subscribing (also similar to Tesla). They’ve also promised to install a paywall (at some point) for connectivity from the beginning.
If that irks you so much, then get a different vehicle. No reason to cry about your poor expectation management publically

You can sign up now…you won’t be billed until the trial period expires on Oct 15. It says that specifically on your screen under updates when you sign up (or don’t). You can cancel at any time…so either way, it doesn’t really matter…you either want it or don’t care

you will lose traffic and satellite images without subscribing. Here is what you keep:

Note: all Rivian vehicles continue to come with standard connectivity features such as:

  • Regular over-the-air software updates
  • Live navigation
  • Remote vehicle commands
  • Phone as a key
  • Alexa Basic (for vehicle commands)
  • Tethering (connecting the vehicle to an external Wi-Fi network or phone hotspot)

if $150 a year (which is, let’s be honest, effectively $0 when compared to the cost of $100k car) is enough to have you sell your car (likely at a far more significant financial impact), so be it.

this forum is somehow filled with people who can afford multiple EVs and other cars, not to mention a $100k Rivian, but $150 is some great financial burden. I guess it is some sort of principle? They always have said this stuff would start costing so I don’t get that either.

I pay $220 a year for my Volvo and that gets me nearly nothing. I paid $10 a month for Tesla connectivity and it didn’t include a hotspot. Why are people so worked up about this?

Yes I’m aware you CAN sign up now. I also DO want it. But there’s no point to. So I’ll wait, like most everyone else.

He's had remote view for a while, but this was the first update that actually showed it with connect +. It's coming, but still not 100% sure on next update. I did see that Gen2 will have seatbelt minders added for all three rows now. This is to comply with something that passed recently.

Also saw that when you change heights, a side view will pop up that gives a real time graphic of your vehicle going up and down with measured heights.

So just because I can afford to buy a couple $100K cars it's OK for them to charge me $100 here $150 there? When I bought Tesla back in 2018 they gave me life time free charging plus life time free connectivity for being an early Tesla adopter. Now I just traded in my 2018 Model S with 2024 Model S and they honored to carry over free life time charging+connectivity. This is how you build trust and loyalty from the customers not squeezing every penny out of early Rivian owners.
