Solar Charging

This is a very inefficient use of time, money, and effort but a fun experiment nonetheless.
The power bank is really for power outages but I thought I would have some fun with Anker’s capabilities.
My next project is an array to generate 15kw per day my average driving is about 10kw per day.

I have the Yoshino 4000 (2611 wH) that can charge up to 600w on solar. It has 30 amp (120v) output. I consider it a last resort for charging. I'd pick the 240v on my F-150h first.

What is the cost of the Anker and the solar panels. Do they directly connect to the Anker or did you have to modify it?

$3400. You can scale it up for 2400 watts of solar. But it’s all plug and play so very easy to use.

If I was going deep into the wilderness and didn’t plan to come out for a couple of weeks, and didn’t have access to a charger for a while after finally hitting pavement, I would very much go for something like this.

It’s a great experiment. Please post your results, even i(especially?) f they’re terrible.

I embarked on a similar journey with an EcoFlow Delta pro and 900w of solar. Only does 120v output, but for overnight top off, works ok. Wasn’t intended for EV charging initially, more for fridge backup with monsoon power outages, but works for EVs too and a fun experiment.

With 400w panel, I am getting about 1kw per day. Realistically I need a 4kw system with 10-20kw of battery. However the charger works with the RIVN charger. If you wanted to scale up on panels and battery this could work.

4 hours of power outage and the Rivian/ Anker combo was spot on. Just make sure to turn the Anker down to 1000W as the Rivian has an output of 1500W

Nice photo of the extension cord "port" in the back of the R1S. I really didn't believe it until I put my finger in there and slowly closed the rear tailgate - it really works for a cord outlet!
