Looks like Rivian is still tweaking their invite system based on reports I'm seeing on social media. Some invite dates are shifting a few weeks to a month.

Inputting existing lease information is also helping some people, but even people without leases have been moved up slightly.

I take that as positive news on production ramp.

The reality is this: if you want a launch edition this year you can have one. The demand on the LE is modest. (IMO people waiting on the tech upgrades.) My mid-June reservation is showing ready to order in August-Sept.

I just put down a reservation last week, specifying a Premium. I was surprised to get an order window between Dec - Feb; I thought for sure there would be so many in the queue that the window would be pushed out to spring.

I won't keep beating a dead horse but I will note one last time that the "backlog" is not a real backlog. I am not suggesting one bad thing about Rivian or the R2. History teaches us that lots of enthusiasts put down refundable $100 deposits as a "free option" or to voice their approval. A first 12 month conversion of 20% would be exceptionally strong. R2 is a great vehicle but Rivian is going to have to sell these month-by-month person-by-person starting in 1Q.

This is true...but it's a little early for Premium reservations to be backing out based on projected December availability. Which tells me that the hype is bigger than the actual reservation list.

Reservation in March 2026 and also Dec-Feb. Planning to wait until ~summer 2027 for MY28 (twins get licences - and dad's old Volvo).

My reservation date was early March 2026. Same window.

The issue could be soft conversion rate.

My order window from a March 8, 2024 reservation was initially predicted as Dec 2026 to Jan 2027. Somewhere around July 4, I finally set the preference that said I was interested in a Launch Edition vehicle. Yesterday, my order timing estimate was updated to be 2-4 weeks. I won't be quite ready at that time because I'm pretty sure I'm waiting on the Borealis color.

It seems like specifying that I would take a launch edition vehicle moved my predicted order date in by at least 4 months.

Aren't you the guy who put a reservation in mid June, saying he expected an order invite within a week?

waiting on the Borealis color.
If I understand the factory paint shop correctly - max 10 colors in production at a given time - what gets killed off to make room for Borealis? Probably not black, white, silver, HMG, Cove, Lgreen, Fgreen (coming to R2).

That leaves R1 colors Rblue, Sblue, and Canyon Red. My bet is CR goes away; later on, R2X and/or R3 will launch w/ Pacific Sunset (see R3 concept mirror caps) replacing Lgreen.

I've not heard about that 10 color max thing...
