Have you installed the latest update? 2024.51 had notes that it was supposed to address this issue specifically

This also happened to me twice in 15 minutes while I was driving after the last update. I hid a full reboot and did not experience this again today

I had it happen multiple times each time I drove for multiple days. I set up a mobile appointment. I left the truck parked for a week while I was out of town. When I got back, it had stopped happening. Then I got a call where they told me they thought the issue had to do with the hard drive. They told me to try unplugging the hard drive and reformat it. Not sure if that took care of it but I haven't had the problem since.

Was on a 6 state, three day drive. Morning of day 2 the screen stayed black for a minute starting off. Came on after a minute so didn't think too much of it. (temps? charger?) Towards the evening of day 3, outside of Amarillo, TX was totally dark out, no highway lights and both screens went black. Could still drive but had no screen lights, interior light. Lasted for 4-5minutes. Since I was still able to drive I didn't want to stop alone in the dark and have it not start up. One screen came up eventually with 'Rivian" and took longer for full screen icons to come up. Was able to get to my destination. Mobile tech who came out 3weeks later said it was the cooling system behind the screens. (?) Hasn't happened since but I also haven't had another 3 day trip...yet

So you are all talking about a “infotainment reset” or “soft reset”, which may occur while driving and even though it’s scary, it really doesn’t affect any driving systems (aside from navigation if you are using it.
A full reset is not likely possible while driving and would likely cause you to crash

As miserable as these issues are, this is not a Rivian only issue (if just infotainment hiccups). I had black screens one morning - everything “ran” fine though.

I’ve had exact same issue with our Range Rover - frustrating, but never affected driving.

Yes. It’s a complete reset of the infotainment.

I'm 8,700 miles and 4.5mo into ownership. Never had this happen.....until the last update. It's happened twice in the last week now.

Still not convinced the "new and improved" features are worth the PIA that constant updates bring.

I've had a few a couple also Frozen screen for the speedometer. Last service they replaced some module, need to look into what exactly. It was Highway assit malfunction and both screens reset and just a couple of days ago the frozen and reset. I put in another ticket and service is scheduled. I want to keep this truck and have bought the lease but this isn't comforting.

Well No, I'm not talking about an 'infotainment reset" or a "soft reset". If it had been Just a reset of any sort why did Rivian send a tech to check it out? Why didn't the service center just tell me it happens all the time, no big deal? AND when the person came to look at my R1T said he tried a reset and it did nothing. He went through different systems and found what cooled the screens was not adequate. It had dropped off somehow and was working on one side but not the other.
Maybe what happens in some of the other cases is "just a reset" as you say. But in my case that was not the techs conclusion. You want to believe he's not telling me the truth is up to you. I just commented in case someone else has this issue and the "reset" hasn't solved their black screens.
