I remember my grandfather (mechanic, farmer), told me when I wanted to drop my 1985 Toyota Truck. He looked at me and said this:

"If your truck was meant to be that low, they would have made it that way".

Rivian Designed them with the Aerocaps for a reason. I personally think they are cool looking, but I can see how people don't like them.

I love the look of the aero caps, but I'm an "EV guy" and this is my first truck, so I also love that all the "truck guys" take the aero caps off so I get to have a good looking truck and also be one-of-a-kind on the road! :CWL:

I ran without the covers for awhile, just put them back on. From my own driving, it's 5% difference so far (about 1,000 miles now).

I'm over the appearance thing and in functionality mode now. Have Grey 2363 rims (could justify paying more to power coat then the rims cost me) to run in the winter which IMHO are ugly (grey or black), but cheap. Not taking my S to any car shows so I doubt a lot will notice the ugly covered wheels.

To each their own. I think they look great. In fact without the aero covers the 21's look weird and visually unbalanced to me.

Removed my covers, because my detailer noticed that they were scratching the hell out of the rims (and I do think it looks better without).

I have personally seen ZERO noticeable range difference. So far, I've added a tonneau, have the cross-bars installed, the weight of the Rivian Spare Tire and kit, and added mud flaps and seen negligible difference in range impact. Really hot days (using AC) and me driving (on average) at 80 MPH for ~90 miles of highway impacts range more than anything else :)

I prefer to drive my rims in the raw ... no aero caps for me. I had them removed at delivery and put the center caps on right away.

I'm sorry, but I think that the aero covers on the 21" wheels are reminiscent of the cheesey plastic wheel covers on 1970's Japanese cars. We removed ours immediately and have them stored on a shelf in the corner of the garage. We really like seeing the yellow brake calipers.

They had that scheduled for after their 'time machine' episode...

I know it is not rivian testing, but I can't stand wheels with Aerocaps

It's not Rivian testing. Therefore the 1% doesn't apply. Multiple people have done their own testing and reported a 5% difference; just not "scientifically rigorous" testing.

You can't stand wheels with aerocaps, don't put them on. Some other people like the look of them. That's their stylistic/efficiency decision. It shouldn't matter to you.

I've stopped caring about how I look since my late 30's (my wife will confirm), solely focusing on performance and function. It's kinda liberating, TBH. Anyway, even if the aeros didn't make a difference, I'd still have to store them somewhere, and it's not worth the clutter. 1%, 5%, it's more than what I'd get with them off, so they stay installed. Different story if they ate into my range, though.

The aero covers are very good wheel finish scratchers.

Sometimes the covers look good to me and sometimes they look dorky. IDK why.

What’s more aerodynamic: A Rivian with a broken tonneau or a functioning tonneau?

Result: We couldn’t find any working tonneaus, so we’ll have to go with Plausible.

Mmmm Kari.
