Terrible Gen2 Stereo / Audio?

How is the stereo on your guys Gen2? I picked mined up last week (max pack) and the stereo is terrible, it sounds like someone is muffling the singer/music. I can't seem to find any settings to correct it. The EQ doesn't seem to do much. It's basically unusable, makes me kind of cringe. My R1T was the best stereo system I ever had. I am going to open a service ticket because I think something has to be wrong, just no fidelity at all. Curious if there is a noticeable drop in quality of audio for all the Gen2 crowd or if I just got a Friday build.

On the Gen 2 did you go with the upgraded sound system or standard. The upgraded is what's in the 2023 and older models other than the meridian.

Actually the gen2 “premium” audio is what the non Meridian gen1 had (2024 and older not 2023). Apparently the base audio now is a lesser version of that still.

The Gen 2 premium is different and to my ears better than the non-Meridian gen 1 system. The standard is less speakers and wattage than all other options.

Good advice. Are all the speakers actually working? If you play with fade and balance you can check speaker function.

I would schedule service if the reboot doesn't resolve. Checking speakers is one of the items on my delivery checklist. There have been instances where connectors were left unplugged at the factory.

I recommend going through my checklist to make sure there are no other issues. If there are you should schedule service as quickly as possible to have them resolved as delivery issue.

Gen2 R1S is non-premium stereo, my R1T was a launch edition May '23 delivery and also non-premium, but it rocked!

Gen1 had only one stereo option - premium. only difference was which premium system you got. it was either the Meridian Elevation system or the Rivian Elevation system. quick check is to look at the speaker grille on the front doors. if it says Meridian Elevation, its Meridian. if it has the compass logo its Rivian. if you picked up in May 2023 youre close to the cutoff of when they switched systems (was March/April 2023 timeframe).

what seems to be the case for Gen2 is the premium system is the Rivian Elevation system and the standard/base system is completely new.

My R1T is a March 2023 build and it has Rivian....no meridian.

The basic system should still sound acceptable given the price range we are in....I would hope anyway.

My Elevation system sounded horrible at first — after several weeks of use it sounded great. I’m convinced there was a break-in period for the speakers, possibly not performed at the factory.

edit: I should add the system sounds far better than the Meridian in my 2020 Land Rover.

Not sure about gen 2, but i have meridian in my r1s, i rode in my friends gen 1 r1s with the elevation audio and it sounds horrible, even set had thebsame eq settings. Rivian elevation audio doesn't hold a candle to the meridian sound system, its like the dynamic/ depth of sound.

Unfortunately all of their systems are not even close to what is offered in luxury vehicles. I've had B&O systems from 5+ years ago that were better. At least you have much better cameras and suspension than us Gen 1 peeps.

Some should ask Wyssym why Rivian hates quality audio so much.

I've wanted to do something about it by upgrading the system through the aftermarket on my own dime, but the lack of reliable information about how the system is wired up, coupled with the fear this would potentially brick the car has tempered my enthusiasm so far.

They should reintroduce Meridian or equivalent as a paid for option at least in the G2 TM and QM.

Has anyone posted suggested equalizer settings for the Gen 2 premium audio system? I have been tweaking mine for a week, but it does not sound great.
