Thank you for sharing this. I had read complaints about awful sky high prices for electriity in CA, Southern CA, I think.
Yours is awesome!!
MIne is not quite that good, but it is still dirt cheap at less than $0.07 per kWh 24/7/365, no TOU rates. It is a bargain to charge my EVs at home, each would charge fully for less than $10!

Our county runs on public power, with a fixed charge about $30/month and a usage rate around $0.064/kWh residential, $0.069/kWh commercial.

Public utility companies -- accountable to voters, not to shareholders -- are generally much cheaper and somewhat more reliable than private "investor-owned" utility companies. For instance, private power in Washington State generally costs about double what public power costs.

Peoria AZ, where @SwampNut lives, is served by public power (Salt River Project) and private power (Arizona Public Service). In Peoria, both the public and private companies appear to have at least some reasonably priced plans.

Best wishes!

Yea that seems pretty normal price for the KwH you received. I'm glad we have access to the superchargers when we need them, but they are the most expensive option so I try to use alternates when I'm not in a hurry.

Scam? The networks don't own the real estate the stations are located on. The networks don't produce the electricity that supply power to said stations. Construction, operation and maintenance of the stations is not free.

If you were the property owner, an employee of the electric company, a construction worker, a employee of the charging network, or a maintenance tech/electrician... You would say "no" to being paid? Getting paid for providing something is how this economy works. Plus, different utilities/businesses in different regions have different operating costs. Just because one has lower rates than another doesn't automatically mean there is fraud going on. PG&E passing cost of settlement to its customers, as unjust as it is, is their way of dealing with operating cost.

This country/culture needs to be more fact-based and less emotional about things.
It is no accident and nothing emotional at all to factually state the obvious, which adds a lot of validity to the argument that it might be cheaper to park your EV and drive an ICE on long trips instead.
One of the best examples I always use:
Tesla Supercharger, Missoula MT - Highway 93 North @ $0.35/kWh
Charger from another network, 8 miles across town @ $0.64/kWh.
Vehicle dealer near me, owns the real estate, cost $0.46/kWh.
From the same utility, cost at home is less than $0.07/kWh.

So yes, it is an outrageous scam.
Actually, one of the reasons why, when on long trips, I'd rather drive my Tesla Model S instead as it has free/gratis Tesla SC electricity for life. Thank you, Tesla!

Where? I've never seen a Phoenix SC for more than that, and usually it's less.
Goodyear, Westgate and Park West are all $0.62/kwh during peak hours. That is before sales tax. The Glendale Magic Dock site is the only one cheaper than EA prices.

THank you - I am new to this. I am thinking in terms of $1/ minute charge - clearly thats not the right way to think about it. If I had to charge for 30 mins or full charge - I'm assuming the cost would be around $30? That's almost like filling a full tank?
You get charged (generally) by kwh (energy trasnferred) and not by time. Familiarize yourself with the Tesla app (or whichever app corresponds to the charger you are going to) for pricing information.

FWIW, $30 wouldn't fill a tank on any truck or van that I have owned (in the last three decades).

This is the logic I see here.

Nope. I got my free Tesla SC electricity on my Tesla Model S Performance forever. Quite happy about that!
I have fairly decent Tesla SC rates on my Model Y Performance. Like that, too.
If it walks like a scam duck, and quacks likes a scam duck, it is a scam duck!
Again, just pointing out the very obvious, not crying about it. Worked hard for my money, not about to allow getting ripped off paying such scam prices. It's a free country!

Also keep an eye on that truck while it’s charging. Sometimes it may stop for some reason and when you return, it didn’t charge.
Other times it may take you longer to get back…in that case, bump your charge % up in the app to avoid idle charges.

I needed a quick charge at the RAN in Corte Madera today and the coffee shop was running slow for several reasons. When I got there I was the only DCFC there and when I left there was one other Forrest green R1S. Since the coffee shop was running slow, I upped my charge % from 70-90%. More than I needed but still way OK for what my end of trip was going to be

If you think that $8 for 8 minutes of charge is too much then feel free to charge at a 50kW ChargePoint somewhere. You’ll get the same amount of charge, it will just take half an hour instead :)

So yes, it is an outrageous scam.
Its definitely expensive. But I'd guess not a scam. I'd be surprised if many EV charging station owners were making much money yet.

Hello All,

I tested my NACS adapter at a supercharger. It worked absolutely fine but.. my charge was $8.53 for 7 mins. Isn’t that too expensive? Or is there a flat charge and then we start getting charged? Attached is the image.

thanks for your inputs

Seems correct...just took a long trip from NY to Montreal...a charge to 80% on Tesla charger was around $40.

I am in Pennsylvania, based on last check, Tesla charges $0.42/kwh.
When I use Electrify America with a $7/month plan, I pay $0.36/kwh
Evo go offpeak is $0.37.
