Rivian mobile service came by to replace my wireless charging pad due to the surface developing a bulge in the middle. And surprisingly, I got the updated design with the center divider similar to the one in gen 2 vehicles. I have to note that they only replaced the surface mat. The actual wireless base didn't get replaced.

And to be honest, IMO this is just half baked solution and it doesn't really do anything. My phone (s24 ultra) stills slide up and down. And because of the divider, it is now even harder for the phone to get locked on to a coil to charge. Essentially, the divider causes whatever coils that are in the center to be useless. Further, even placing the phone on either side now needs precise placement close to the edge of center armrest to get a lock. Even with that, a slide to the front would disconnect charging. The old design even though my phone wouldn't stay in place but at least I could throw it on the pad anywhere and it would start charging.

I have a Gen 1 R1T, I went to the SC for a tonneau replacement and got the wireless charging pad replaced. Same thing, it still does not work. I gave up and now use an Apple mag safe charger.

Disappointing. I thought the Gen2 would actually be a new unit (that works). Oh well.

I ordered the adventure high tech stow n charge before I even got my R1S because of reviews of the charging pad.

https://adventurehightech.com/products/stowncharge

When I got the S I tried the OEM pad and agreed it was worthless. The Stow n Charge was about a 15 minute swap out and has been great. Even looks better than the OEM in my opinion and I like the small covered compartment.

I have no stake in this company I just think it is a good product.

Note : You have to buy two magsafe chargers to go in it. I bought OEM apple so that increases the $209 price.
My Iphone Is magsafe charged and holds in place well. I don't know how well non magsafe phones would do. YMMV

Yup. This for the win. Stinks for gen 2 owners because the key card now starts the vehicle from there so they’re stuck with the new factory version with divider (and still no mag).

Agreed...Stow n Charge for the win. the OEM charger never worked and I've had the one pictured in my truck for a year...I can't think of a time is hasn't worked even with two phones on it for hours.

who ever designed and tested that wireless charging pad should be fired. That is the worst design I've ever seen in any cars that I owned. I just bought Tesla Model S and wireless phone charging is so seamless.

Check out ours, it's not redesigned to fit gen2:
https://twraps.com/products/magsafe-compatible-dual-wireless-charger-for-rivian-r1t-r1s

I do have issues with my gen2 though as the USB-C ports stop working shortly after reboot making charging and gear guard not work too, but I have a SC appointment to have it looked at. If you have no such issues, our charger, if plugged on the right (passenger side) port will do great (that port is for faster charging - I am getting 10W per puck with iPhone 15 Pro Max).

My Zenfone10 charges perfectly in the gen2.....

.....As long as I take the case off, have it centered left to right, and with the top edge completely flush with the pocket lip.

Unfortunately, the insane camera buldge doesn't let it sit flat so it slides everywhere.

wtf, how hard is it to figure out how to make a fully functioning wireless charger? they get all the hard eng right but can't get this, the camp speaker, and tonneau covers figured out. not sure if they cant or just dont want to invest the resources in redesigns.

I was recently in a Gen 2, and I was unable to charge my iPhone 13 Pro Max on their new charging pad. I couldn’t seem to find the exact position my phone needed to be in. It was weird…

The $20 insert available on Amazon makes my wireless charger work great.

Can you please share which one? The only one I can find doesn't have good reviews, say it causes rattles.
