I have 35% in the fronts, 70% on the front windshield, and 50% everywhere else. Sometimes I wish I had gone one shade darker, but then other times I think I got it just right.

Has anyone tinted their roof 15%? I put Air80 on the windshield and roof, but I still feel the sun so I am going back to darken the windshield to IRX 50%, and the roof to IRX 15%. I hear that this is a common setup in the desert where I live, but I would like to know if you can still see out the roof with a shade as dark as 15%. Thanks in advance!

I went with the following tints:

Llumar Pinnacle 30 on the two front windows
Llumar Pinnacle 50 on all other side windows
Llumar Air80 on windshield and back window

Rivian R1T R1S Window Tinting % Level Preferences IMG_9419
Rivian R1T R1S Window Tinting % Level Preferences IMG_9417
Rivian R1T R1S Window Tinting % Level Preferences IMG_9405

The windshield appears clear.

The overall result is exactly what I wanted. Yes, a darker windshield would be nice, but I wanted zero effect on nighttime visibility, and no issues with getting pulled over for an illegally tinted windshield.

I was under the impression that the front windshield cannot or shouldn’t be tinted ? Or it’s only in California?

In Florida the windshield can't be tinted. This is why I went with the Air 80 - it is so clear it appears to not be tinted. But, it really cuts the glare and has high heat rejection.

TL;DR: Can anyone share some pictures from the inside of their R1S looking outward (showing both front and rear windows)? I want to see how consistent they look from the inside looking out.

--

Hi, everyone! My first post here. Hoping y'all can assist.

I have a tint appointment for my new R1S (Forest Green) next week and am having a tough time deciding on the tint percentages.

Some history: I had a 2016 Porsche Cayenne years ago where I used 20% for the front windows. The rear windows were privacy glass (factory clouded to maybe 24% already), and I wanted all windows (front and rear) to appear around 20% when all was said and done. Because of this, the tint shop used a much lighter tint (maybe 80%) for the rears. When I got in the vehicle and looked outward, the front and rear windows looked so different... really bad. Looked like two totally different tints were used... maybe the front looked charcoal hue and the rears looked blue hue. I don't recall exactly, but it did not look consistent. When looking from the exterior, however, it looked consistent.

I ended up having them remove the tint and just do 20% all the way around which made the hue look more consistent, even though the front windows ultimately looked lighter than the rear.

So, with all that said -- does anyone have any pictures from inside their R1S looking outward, showing the front and rear tinted windows side by side? It is very easy to get an exterior shot to look the same, but it is much different when you are on the inside looking out.

I'm thinking about using:
  • 15% Llumar IRX or Pinnacle (It's actually 20% or 19% VLT) for the front windows
  • 50% Llumar IRX or Pinnacle (VLT: 54% or 55%) for the rear windows
  • 80% Llumar AIR for the windshield
But I'm also thinking about just doing 15 all-around to avoid any inconsistency. But that would be super dark for the rears, factoring in the factory glass.

Any thoughts/suggestions would be very much appreciated!

The rear windows are about 20, so I matched the front with 20 percent and then did 70 front and back and rear windows along with the roof. I really like it, front and back look seamless.

I went with Pinnacle 50 on the windshield, Pinnacle 25 on the front windows and then Air80 on all the rear windows. I didn’t tint the roof because I didn’t want to risk it cracking that has happened to others. I think it looks amazing.

Did you end up getting 15 on the roof? I was thinking of doing 35 but read another thread that 35 was really dark. So I am doing 70 windshield and 55 on the roof. I would still like the roof to let some light in. It would help if you let me know if you did go with 15% for the roof.
