XCARE Warranty. When to start it?

Just so everyone is aware. It is looking like R1 is needing suspension replacement at about 65-69k miles. This cost alone for all 4 corners is $8k. The warranty is needed for extended ownership. Just search on here, it’s a common issue.

Here's what I am thinking, I'm going to schedule a Comprehensive evaluation with Rivan prior to my 4 years / 50,000 miles, I wont get to the milage side of that so My warranty will expire approx. 5/2028, so I'll target about 6 months before that. Have them fix anything they find, if anything, while still under warranty, then evaluate what the xcare extended warranty cost would be and my my decision then. I am not concerned about the battery at all, more worried about suspension issue.
Get the comprehensive before that anyway. Its only about $250 (depending on which SC) and it might prevent you from being stuck one day. A buddy of mine had the suspension just completely drop on his R1T out of the blue. Then it had to be towed 200 miles to a service center.
Peace of mind is worth it. Maybe schedule it at a service center that does demo drives and try out the R2 while you wait.

I'm definitely looking at this, but my biggest problem is that they only offer premium (which includes battery+drivetrain) and battery+drivetrain options. I'd consider an "everything BUT" the battery/drivetrain option as my 2023 quad already has an 8 year 175k warranty on that.

One small detail to keep in mind is that there is a 30 day wait period from when you purchase the warranty and when it becomes active. It doesn't sound like a lot, but I had a hydraulic pump failure resulting in replacing the pump and all 4 dampers with less than 100 miles left on the OEM warranty. When I asked what that bill would have been he estimated between $15-20k. I went over the OEM warranty mileage driving it home from the service center when I was in that 30 day wait period. That drive was plenty stressful with that number in my head. Nothing happened, but the cost of the warranty will easily pay for itself several times over with just the few issues I've had in 3.5 years if even a couple of them happen again in the next few years.

Thank you for mentioning this. I'll have to look into the extended warranty sooner, rather than later.

Q1: Does Xcare cover cost of a tow to the service center for a warrantable issue?

Q2: In their exclusions, they reference "air leaks". It seems to be in the context of water intrusion, door seals, etc., but want to ensure this doesn't refer to the air suspension. I sent an email to xcare asking for clarification but appreciate anyone's input that has already experienced this.
