We received an email from Rivian today," Drive Modes and Home Charging Hints"
It advises, among other things:
I'm just noting, for the record, that Rivian is the hold up on this item. I've asked Rivian to sell me a charger early or tell when I will receive it so I can actually plan ahead. I'm told that I can discuss with a guide, after I get one. For comparison, my quote was $1500, but included installing a new submeter next to my main electric meter, to get a lower EV rate for car charging. This did not include the charger itself, getting the Rivian charger. $675 for installation, $625 for materials, $200 permit fees. I need to get another quote or two, but don't really expect a better price. Sigh......

3. Plan In Advance |
There’s high demand for charger installation, and many electricians are booked in advance. Plan ahead to make sure you’re all set when your charger arrives; our partners at Qmerit can give you a free quote, assist with permitting and help choose where to mount your charger. If you’re in a condo or apartment complex, management may be open to helping with an install. |
