I'll turn gear guard full off and see if the cameras are still actively powered.
I turned both gear guard video and alarm off and checked back a few hours later. The cameras are still emitting heat so I guess turning it off just disables the motion processing and/or video saving... I'm not sure why they are constantly powered when they aren't needed. Also I forgot to mention I'm on software version 2022.11.2.

24 hour test on the latest update (2022.11.2).
Gear guard/HVAC off
R1T in the garage unlocked with a temp around 60F

8:17 PM Starting SOC was 70% 194 miles
6:25 AM SOC was 69% 190 miles
8:04 PM SOC ended at 67% 184 miles

~4.5 kWh lost over 24 hours equates to a constant drain of 150-200W which is basically the same result I got on 2022.7.0.
Alright I did your test with gear guard and WiFi off... And now I'm confused. I went through the same %, less kWh, more Conserve miles.

24 hour difference: 3%, 3kWh, 11 Conserve miles

My kWh estimate was based on mileage lost so an estimate. So appears in the same ballpark. I didn’t realize the trip meter would capture this lost energy, so that is good to know.

It’s a lot of wasted energy, hoping this is sorted out quickly via OTA updates.

I'm just confused what's pulling that much energy. The even with them on like bowhunter saw, they can't be pulling 200w can't they?

Is your car connected to wifi? Just wondering if its bascially constantly communicating to the mother ship. We saw a LOT of data is constantly transferred.

Yeah it is connected to home Wi-Fi.

A decently powered x86 laptop running a heavy workload doesn’t consume that much power. ARM is even more efficient. I would hope Rivian isn’t using hardware that is even less efficient.

It'll be interesting to review the upcoming software updates to see what will attempt to address this further. Those here have some experience with things like Sentry mode and expected some level of vampire drain. But to the average person with limited or no EV experience this level of loss, with no clear explanation or way to "disable", on such an expensive vehicle is going to generate more than a few calls and/or emails.

I'd also try car wash mode and lower to the lowest suspension.

Why do you think these will affect drain?
Car wash mode deactivates the capactive touch buttons and potentially other sensors.

Lowest suspension would hopefully have the least air in the suspension, so if any leaks or leveling are present, hopefully the lowest level would minimize adjustments.

Starting Friday afternoon, I'll be testing the "Vehicle shipping" function over 24 hours. I could do it tonight, but would get less than 24 hours, and I think it's important to allow a full day cycle.

Certainly interesting, can't say I've seen this feature highlighted before. I'm genuinely curious, I just can't see some of the drain described here (with Gear Guard disabled) as working as intended.

Edit: Not to say that toggling this feature should in any way be required. It would only be a band aid until things are actually fixed.

Added to my lists, probably won't do till next week as most of my driving is on weekends and I bike commute.
