Camp Speaker... POS?

Mine doesn't charge from USB C as advertised, disconnects and turns off for no reason, and overall is just a "fail" for implementation. Anyone else having problems?

I'm on Android 12. Edit for clarity.

I think there are instructions for a reset in the manual - I had some problems but all were solved with a reset. It connects reliably and charged my phone pretty quick.

I agree the Camp Speaker is not great, right now. Sometimes mine charges, sometimes it doesn't. Usually it doesn't show battery level in the center screen but occasionally it does. Turning it on takes several attempts and is unreliable. Cycling the lantern function is cumbersome. It will also turn itself off after some period of time (15-30 minutes if I had to guess, although I haven't timed exactly timed it).

According to the center screen, some functions are coming in an OTA update, so perhaps the vehicle can flash the speaker firmware. Hopefully the reliability and function can be improved.

I left it "charging" on a USB C plug for my laptop for 27hrs... Didn't charge. Great sound when it works, but dam Rivian, just like too many other things - so close but a miss.

USB-C is complicated because charging can go in both directions.

Personally, I would rather have a storage drawer than a camp speaker but that wouldn't have generated the same kind of excitement.

USB-C is complicated because charging can go in both directions.

Except when an appliance is connected to a charger.. my laptops USB C charger is 50Wh. That's should be enough to charge the speaker right... After 27hrs?

It might be too much, try a lower level charger. We have a portable fan that will not charge with the higher power iPad charge block but will with the lower iPhone block. I would assume it would have an indicator light on when charging.

All I can say is that my wife and I use our Camp Speaker daily (about 35 minutes or so) while exercising, and it works great and sounds great. Sometimes it doesn’t unlock, and I have to lock and unlock the truck to get it out, but personally I find it very useful and am glad to have it…

Yeah it does, pulsing white. I thought that meant charging... Nice directions btw Rivian. I'm on a lower amp charger now, still pulsing white. Guess I'll put ina trouble call on the speaker... Since vehicle is there at SC now for other issues wonder how that'll work

Depends, since usb-c charging voltage is complicated. I don't know if your laptop charger will offer the proper voltage for the camp speaker to allow charging.

Are we sure the USB-C port is bi-directional? I charge my phone off of the speaker
