Fingers crossed that by the time my Rivian is delivered in mid-2025 (sarcasm emoji), the factory will have had more than enough time to address and rectify all of these issues . . .

My underbody shield screws were loose also. I have a ticking noise I hear under light acceleration and decel in the back. Sounds like when you spin a prize wheel and the tab clicks. It's like a tag is on a drive shaft.. still looking. It just started at 800 miles. Tom
Check your tires to see if you picked up a rock.

I noticed a weird one yesterday...while driving with intermittent wipers on I could feel a slight vibration in the accelerator pedal with each wiper cycle. Not sure what the link is over that distance but it was noticeable enough to make me aware of it.

I have finally tracked down I believe all my various NVH sources. I share so that others may benefit. Now that I have solved them, the truck went from what I thought were alot of suspension noise and janky, to remarkably well sorted out and quiet sounding, and I have the 20's. Not one noise was suspension. Suspension is very quiet actually. My family says I am a bit OCD on this stuff...and they are likely right, but NVH that doesn't come from a tire impact or actual suspension design, drives me crazy.

All of these are so simple...it was just finding them that took all the effort.

Sources Of Noise And Solution:
  • #1 Carbon Fiber Skid Plates. Screws needed to be tightened.
  • #2 Frunk sub-floor. The frunk is like a giant speaker and anything that sets off a thump sound, will be heard in cabin. The sub-floor was doing just that. One of my favorite NVH tools is to use appropriate weight Velcro, but only the soft half of it. So I put a bunch on frunk, so sub-floor now lands and sits on it, rather than it sitting directly on the plastic frunk tub.
  • #3 Front Wheel Liners. This one is a bit more intense, but there were several spots where the liner impacted the frame, and bumps would cause it to thump. Removed as needed to get to them (found by tapping/hitting the fender liners to hear if it would hit anything), used my soft half of velcro technique, and made them all go away. Rivian has deadner in there, just wasn't in all needed spots.
  • #4 Driver door lower trim wasn't fully engaged on inside and was tapping over bumps. Removed and reinstalled as necessary to correct.
  • #5 Front bumper squeeked enough to be heard in cabin on big bumps. I use silicone to go between the mating panels, and most of it is now gone. Not sure this one is technically OK, putting silicone in there, but I didn't care...I was going to find it.

Now truck is arguably the quietest truck I have been in. But these little things were driving me nuts and were pretty easy to fix.
My R1S has a lot of noise and vibration harness. I do think I hear some squeak and rattle in the actual suspension, but your post made me go on the outside and explore. I found an assortment of things that are making lots of noise and vibrations, which sounds like what I'm hearing inside the cabin while driving.

Having said that, I do not know how to begin trying to remedy. I have a service appt for a number of finish, trim and a paint repair I discovered at delivery. I just submitted another service ticket with these videos to have them look at when the car is in for repair. Hopefully they can resolve, otherwise I'll need to find a solution or get another car:)

Genius! We’ll done.

I had all of those too. That one with the panel under each side, doesn't seem to make it into cabin. No idea why they left them like that where they rattle like crazy...

I am down to a couple of noises. A bit of squeek across from somewhere on bumps. And then a thumping on really big impact bumps. Sounds like a a rubber mallet hitting the chassis.

I get a really annoying squeaking that appears to come from the rear window especially on twisting loads (backing at an angle over curbs or hitting some normal road bumps.) Has anyone found what something similar to this was? Doesn't seem to be temperature dependent it just happens and it annoys the crap out of me.

Other than a bit of mild suspension squeak (which I'm not too bothered by) this is the big noise I get.

I've got a slight rattle somewhere behind the driver display on textured roads. I've also got the clunking noise from the suspension on bigger speed bumps (normal?).

My flashlight was definitely making noise while closing the door. I put a little bit of soft velcro around half the inside perimeter so it can't move anymore while docked. Seems to have helped.

I'll have the service center address all this stuff during my visit late November.

Hopefully the rattle doesn't drive me insane until then.

I hope to someday find that clunking in mine. It doesn't seem normal. It's not all that loud..in my case the noise is similar to the turn signal wood knocker sound..on big bumps...and it it does it 2 times. One on first hit of bump, then seems to do second time on rebound.

And it seems to not happen on large amplitude bumps unless it starts with a hard impact. So I speculate bearing, upper control arm bushings, ball joint(upper or lower), or the half shaft slop.

Rattles and squeaks on a brand new vehicle are a huge pet peeve of mine.

I think we got a Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday built 2021 Tesla Model Y. Zero squeaks or rattles even after 26k miles.

It's amazing what a crapshoot the quality can be. Fingers crossed, in my first three days of driving my R1T I've only found one minor issue and zero squeaks, rattles, tocks or thumps. I think I got very, very lucky.

Belonging to an auto forum is like a double edged sword. It makes members think they every vehicle rolling out of the assembly plant is problematic. Happy owners rarely post and majority of owners don’t belong to an online brand specific forum.

Hopefully people who see the collective group of forum members trying to find a solution to problems their R1's might have, don't extrapolate that to mean we are unhappy owners. I am beyond happy with my R1T. Giddy happy. Piling miles on it like no vehicle I have ever owed. It's the first time I have treated my daily driver like a weekend toy.

But...there have been a few issues. And all have been resolved but one at moment. And it is one I certainly can live with. Still wouldn't trade my R1 for anything else to daily right now.

But I also feel we shouldn't have to start every post with all that disclaimer...and then say..."I had an issue or does anybody have this same issue"...but again...I love this thing.

Hopefully people can understand this all isn't completely perfect or worthless.

I have something similar, it's coming from either the rear window, rear passenger door or perhaps the subwoofer causing a rattle as its in that general corner. Haven't found it yet though.
