All the video examples in this thread are evidence of a more consistent clicking sound than a knock or clunk. We’ve had a very distinct “thump” or single knock sound develop when taking off from a stop. I want to do more testing around it, but I can feel it through the car as well.

Is anyone else experiencing this?

Yours sounds worse than mine on previous post?

From your video, ours is not the same sound at all. Ours is a solid, single THUMP that I feel -almost as if something is shifting significantly.

I feel the same thing every now and then…like the suspension is shifting forward.

I have had my R1T “repaired” three times for the half shaft/spline knock the last time being the new and improved washers addition. I had so hoped the most recent repaired would be the last. Now that the summer temperatures have arrived and the lube thinned the knock is back but not as severely as before. I suspect Rivian has exhausted its repair options and I am stuck with the slack in the half shaft/spline interface. The tolerances are simply not what they should be. My worry is the gaps will increase with age and with my luck the ultimate failure will occur once the vehicle is off warranty.

Mine was repaired with the washer improvement made the sound louder. No improvement. Going in again for some other issues that were missed at the first service appointment and to re-eval the tocking. My concern as well is how much trouble the suspension system may result in after warranty is up at 50k miles. Could turn into a very expensive vehicle to own long term without a long term fix. We’ve owned several Toyota and Lexus SUVs, never had to worry about potential out of warranty issues, especially not less than one year into ownership; those vehicles went well above the 100k mile marks with little to no issues. I love the truck, feature packed, really good looking, drive is great, but hope they can resolve or find a solution before the warranties expire.

Drivetrain has 8yr, 175k warranty so you’d think they’d want to fix this now instead of kicking the can down the road for years.

Oh I did not know the drivetrain warranty was so expansive (and duh on me, the suspension is part of the drivetrain). More peace of mind.

Well, I just meant that everything mechanical that “makes it go” is covered…I think your concern for the suspension is warranted…it is only 60k miles. ?.

Well, this is the worst it’s sounded…this is after lubing, replacing shaft on drivers side, and washer campaign.

Does it sound the same from drivers seat when windows are up?

Funny you ask…I was just playing with that. That small tick noise isn’t noticeable with windows up. But the clunk is.

My vehicle is relatively new (2 weeks) and I just noticed today the when the vehicle is going from kneel mode to standard height in All Purpose, that I will get the rocking sound as the suspension is adjusting and the vehicle is going low speed. Is this what others are seeing and is it something that the SC can do? I'm compiling my list of issues (all pretty minor) so I can get them looked at all at once seeing as you can't add issues to a service appointment.

Hmm. Would really need to hear it. I don’t use kneel function so not familiar.

It sounds like to tocking sound in the posted video without the clicking/ticking sound. I'd have to try to capture a video of it. I tested while the vehicle is stationary, and the sound didn't happen just sound of the air suspension. Seems to occur during suspension adjustment while the vehicle is in low speed motion. I'll obviously need a reliable method to replicate for SC when I make an appointment.

Hope it’s something they can fix for you. That pop and tick sound is new to me, so hope they will take a closer look at my next appointment…2 months from now unfortunately.
