Well, 4 in a year an a half is pretty rediculous. Luckily this crack spread along the bottom when I can’t see it. I will not be fixing it, rather wating for another crack. At this rate, it’ll be around January or February.

i will probably start researching glass testing companies to get professional opinions on the quality of the glass Rivian is using. Depending what I find, I may take rivian to small claims for the windshield deductible and ceramic film that needs replaced each time.

I love the truck and SUV, but this is insane!

Mine was cracked by a rock hit on the interstate with only 200 miles on the odometer. Honestly, I think that rock hit was large enough it would’ve been likely to crack the windshield of my prior cars too. I’ve been more cautious since the glass replacement to keep my distance especially when I’m behind likely “rock throwers” like lifted jeeps and pick ups.

Haven't seen many people complaining of broken windshields lately. Maybe early Rivians had too tight of fitment of the glass and modifications have been made since then?

I've had quite a few rock hits in 23k miles and only one bad enough to chip it. Safelite was able to fill the chip.

This is why I haven't gotten ceramic put back on mine, already received 2 chips and figure doing so is just asking for replacement.

FWIW, my 2 recent chips both came from small cars, a VW Bug and a small Volvo. No other cars around on a separated highway.

I took a tiny rock barely made a sound and chipped the windshield, on my Tacoma I took hits 10x that Loud and they didn’t leave a mark. The volume of the hit isn’t scientific but it gives the appearance of a pretty large difference in the structural resistance to chipping on the Rivian, I would guess it’s the angle not the glass causing them to be more fragile

I just got back from a hunting trip and never heaven heard more than bugs hitting the windshield.

this is my only complaint about the Rivian. As soon as aftermarket glass is available, I will be buying it.

DaveA May be right. Rivian might have changed the glass already. I will reach out and see.

Yeah, 5 cracked windshields in 2 yrs. All around Tucson AZ area. I don't even follow the front vehicle closely. 3 of those cracks came when a speeding vehicle sped pass me and came on to my lane and then a rock flew onto my windshield and cracks it. :crying:

I am at almost 30k on a 3xxx vehicle and zero rock bruises, chips, cracks. Can't say the same on our Jeeps....

Just read a post about the back window damage. There is a lot of complaints about the glass roof as well. Too many (IMHO) to disregard. Something is wrong here. I would pay extra for Gorilla Glass or something similar. Apparently, Jeep is using it and the upgrade is about $300 extra.
