Good lord. I have to remind myself not to ask any more questions...sometimes it's not worth it. LOL

In AP and Sport mode, standard height. The battery was 38 degrees. Maybe that was the issue. That was the first drive since the update. Cold temps outside in the 20s.

Must we always find some reason to complain every time there is something new?
Discussing things that seem different is how we as a community discover bugs/problems in the update. Case in point - Some users not able to send a route from Apple Maps. Fortunately we don't all feel like you do - that everyone should keep quiet and not report problems.

Ignore the grumpy whiners, THEY are not worth it.

Don't sweat it......your question was a legit and fair question. Some on here over react to alot apparently.

The model X driver next to me yesterday evening found out there is no change in acceleration, and quickly decided he didn’t want to play anymore. The only thing I’ve noticed is that I used to be able to still keep some pressure on the pedal while stopped. That same amount of pressure is now a slight creep. So the dead zone in the pedal sweep is now smaller. All purpose mode.

Ability to accelerate is the same. But throttle mapping may have been tweaked (because of persistent complaints about low speed drivability from people who have trouble with modulation). Throttle pedal dead zone is a safety strategy all manufacturers employ; ICE too. They also do it for the clutch pedal for MT cars.

Rivian did not short change you on performance.
Nice to see someone own up to what almost all of us do at one time or another, i.e. use the performance we paid for. On the slower side, I’m enjoying the adjustment done to reverse, making for a much smoother exit from my garage down my driveway.

My second day of ownership, I saw stars in all-purpose at a metered on-ramp. Didn’t even touch the brake pedal. Mashed on throttle to about 60% from auto-hold. Smack my cranium against the headrest. Did not expect response to be so quick and violent. And that was OTA 2023.26. That day I learned to respect the power.
Ahhh. I remember my first time like it was yesterday…….

It's -12 deg F here right now. I can't drive with my eyelids frozen shut. I'll test the acceleration on Thursday. In the meantime, time to hunker down and watch football.

I want to say I noticed the same thing in my R1T a couple of upgrades back. 0-30 was still face smashing but after that it seemed like a regular truck.

The timeframe may correspond to colder weather and the battery not being warmed up. I will have to give that a shot. The new scheduling feature should help.

Also, part of me wonders if I've just grown accustomed to the incredible acceleration, and not so easily impressed. Is acceleration a gateway drug? :)

No problems here. I was “testing” the acceleration yesterday. Still crazy fast. Made my wife sick to her stomach. She said “who knew I needed to take a Dramamine when I got into your car”.

Rumor has it if you: 1) put your left foot FIRMLY on the big pedal in the middle of the drivers footwell; 2), plant your right foot just as firmly on the skinny pedal just to the right of that big pedal; 3) wait about a second, then quickly remove your left foot, some seriously quick things will happen.

Just a rumor though....
Rumor also has it that if you follow the above instructions…you may end up in the service center with a rig out of alignment. Too much torque! But you do you… ?

Mystery solved. Preconditioned battery. 59 degrees. Motors in the 75-85 range. Ol’ girl got pep back in her step.
Thanks for the advice.
glad you figured it out. FYI on the gauge cluster, the power graph next to the Speedo will be slightly greyed out at the tip of the graph until the battery is warm enough to give you full performance. Next time you hop in when it’s cold take a look and see if you notice it.

Did the truck show that acceleration was limited? It’s similar to the limited regen display.

Naw. Don't sweat the grumpies.

I love Gig harbor BTW. Sailed in there a few times back in the day. The boat is in the Sea of Cortez now.
