Does anyone have any experience with repairing / understanding how the windows work?
My driver window is up (fortunately) but won't go down. Just took delivery and I swear it worked once at the SC. It's a long ways back so I'm wondering if there's any way to investigate / fix. Other three windows work fine. Makes no noise, acts like button is disconnected.

Edit: The app says the driver window is down, but it is up. So it might not want to lower it if it thinks it's all the way down. Is this something a reset/reboot might fix? If so, do I have to re-pair phones, keys? Charging schedules? Seat positions?

Sounds like you need to recalibrate the windows. Check the manual.

Can you give me a pointer; I can't find "calibrate" anywhere in the manual.

I would try the calibration first, then a soft reset, then a hard reset and then call Rivian if none of those do anything.

I had this exact same issue with the same window. I could hear it try to roll down, but it only moved an 1/8" or so and the app showed the window as being open. Soft reset, hard reset, calibration didn't help. Ultimately it required a service visit to replace the Regulator. Here's a screenshot of the invoice. Edited to add that the service visit was quick and painless. In and out in about an hour.

Thanks @VSG & @COdogman; I had an old manual downloaded, now have the new one. @Riv_Goat thanks, I'll probably end up there but will try the calibrate first. Although I don't see how it can calibrate if it won't go down at all...
How long had you had your R1T when it failed? Looks like maybe not long. I'm hoping this is an infant mortality problem, not crappy components.

R1S, but it failed pretty much immediately. I bought it from a friend, so I’m not sure it ever worked. It’s possible I did something to break it but I don’t think so.

My driver side auto-up/down doesn’t work. Tried many recalibrations, will work a couple times then back to not working.

Most window issues are one of these:
1. Faulty switch (no noise)
2. Broken motor - electrical (no noise)
3. Broken gear on motor - mechanical (grinding noise)
4. Broken window regulator - mechanical (the pulleys and cables that convert the motor rotation to the up/down motion of the window)

Replacing each is straightforward (on old Audis, Jeeps, Mazdas, and Crown Vic’s - been there , done that). But getting the door off can be the hardest part - especially with single use clips.

Easiest thing to do is hold the switch up for 5 seconds. That tells the truck “roll up the window” for the first 4 or so seconds and reset the up position at the 5th second.

Do the same in the down direction next.

For fun, try resetting the up position afterwards. The order should not matter once both up and down resets are performed.

If it doesn’t work after that, Rivian needs to fix it.

Edit: don’t let the window issue get you down. It is an easy fix. Think of it as getting a better/newer window switch, regulator, motor for that window. The other windows will be jealous.

@Glembi2 Thanks. I guess my other windows will be jealous; the up-down-up seesaw was met by silence.

So, if your car window is acting up and the app doesn't match what's happening in real life, it might be a software hiccup. No worries, though – give it a reset. Usually, your personalized settings stay put, but just to be safe, back them up. Oh, and see if there are any software updates for your car; sometimes, they fix these little quirks.
If the issue sticks around after all that, it could be a hardware issue. Like, the window regulator, motor, or the control switch might be playing hard to get.

Had the same issue after the freezing rain we got. Maybe the motor burnt out. Mine is at the shop for a motor fault, but they said they will fix the window too. Sounds like it's not an uncommon issue.
