If that Karen were going off on me, I'd say, "go ahead and call the police while I'm here charging."

Then when the police show up, I'd politely inform the officer that Tesla has recently opened up charging to non-rivian vehicles. Then ask the officer if I can do a quick web search to validate this point. Nothing like a little outside reference to put Karen in her place.

The OP claims they bought an adapter on Amazon. Since there aren't any NACS to CCS DC adapters available on Amazon, they must've bought an AC NACS to J1772 adapter instead, which will never work.

That sign does not say “Tesla Vehicle Charging Only”

It says
“TESLA” (the logo)
Then there is a definite gap before the words
“Vehicle Charging Only”

Therefore ok to park there if authorized/enabled to charge at a Tesla charging site and actually charging your vehicle.

Buried in the article is that the adapter the Rivian owner got on Amazon didn’t work, so they had to bail to an EVGo.

More info on that adapter please, so others don’t suffer the same fate.

ETA - a cursory glance of Amazon does not show any CCS -> NACS adapters for Rivian DCFC on Superchargers. So I’m guessing they bought a J1772 and (of course) it didn’t work.

Probably not worth getting into it with the owner, but I'd point out that the different font and spacing of the "Tesla" compared to "Vehicle Charging Only" makes it clear it's not one continuous sentence of "Tesla Vehicle Charging Only", but rather, it's a Tesla-branded sign indicating that the spot is reserved for "Vehicle Charging Only"

But Tesla should really send out an email, notice, something to Tesla owners that Superchargers are now available to others

And if that doesn’t work show them in the Tesla app how Tesla invited us to pay more per kilowatt hour to charge and subsidize their own charging, preventing an increase for them.
