the Rivian OS is based on Android so that could be the extent of the "showcase" is just showing Rivian as an example.

I have also heard Rivian is switching to Google mapping but don’t know to what extent or when.

Maybe we will get a YoutubeTV app when streaming apps are added!

What do you mean? Nothing was announced. Rivian’s infotainment system is based on Android so it was just there as an example of what can be done with it.

Google I/O is a developer conference, there aren’t going to be Rivian specific announcements there.

I know others are excited but this seems pointless to me. I have my phone with me 100% of the time, so no need to watch YouTube on the center screen. Maybe if my kids were still little.

If I'm parked and charging I'd rather watch something on that screen than my phone, with the added benefit of the vehicle sound system

If they allow this while driving, I'd be interested... I've had videos playing from a phone/tablet in the center console area for the kids before and not an issue here. However, I feel like it might be distracting for most people...
