I'm off today and will be installing the Noco dual bank charger and inlet port I ordered Sat.
I found your other thread, will follow along there!

I opened a ticket on 8/24 and it was closed stating 1-4% loss is to be expected.
Did you mention it increased since the last update (assuming it is for you)? I don’t think that is expected.

It can't possibly be that a 4% daily loss is acceptable. For a Gen 1 Large battery pack like mine, that would mean 5.4 kWh per day in energy consumption while sitting.

'You don't need to tell me'. I am upset with even 1%. When I saw 4%, I rolled my eyes. Especially when Wasym is quoted as saying 1mi per day which is 1/3 of a %.

If most VD/PD is indeed just 12V battery maintenance, I feel like this is a simple fix with a better algorithm.
If <50% for >24hrs maintain
If >50% for <24hrs do not maintain

Obviously that is generic and not exactly what is needed, but if I am going to drive in the morning or even have a charge event, then who cares if there is some 12V drain. *Within the ranges of keeping the 12V healthy. OR just get a different 12V battery chem.

I agree. This is totally unacceptable as an answer and battery drain. If this is what was expected why wasn’t this feature listed in the release notes of the last update. I do think customers would want to be informed about an additional 2-3% drain. ?

It's a bit more complicated than that.

1. The 12V battery is asked to do a lot of energy-burning things even when the vehicle is supposed to be asleep. Such as Gear Guard, proximity stuff, and waking up everything to upload data to Rivian every few hours.

2. When the 12V battery needs to be recharged due to #1, that maintenance seems to burn a bunch of extra energy due to needing to wake up so many systems.

All of it adds up to a very disappointing Gen 1 design IMO and even more disappointing that it doesn't seem possible to mitigate this even when turning off all the features. By the way, recently on Camp Mode with power turned off, we still went from 77% to 75% overnight!

Just to add some data and stir the pot, here's what 24 hours looks like on our R1T PDMM, unplugged at a moderate SOC, no GG or proximity locking:
Rivian R1T R1S Vampire Drain increase after 2024.27.01 update? Screenshot 2024-08-20 at 1.17.58 PM

I presume a good chunk of that is the system waking up to recharge the pathetically small 12v battery. I've actually got a Ohmmu Li-ion replacement 12v battery next to me here in my office waiting for time to install it, should be something like 3x the capacity. The $10K question is does the system have a passive voltage monitor to wake up the computers & HV>12v charger when the voltage gets low? Or is the computer programmed to just wake up every few hours and check because Rivian presumes the 'known' battery capacity and drain rate? TBD

Yep ... my VD went from ~0.8% per day to ~2% per day according to Electrafi. If I drive or charge the vehicle, it will cycle to 1hr sleep / 30 min wake. After about 12 hrs, it goes to 30min sleep/ 15 min wake. I put in a service ticket, no response yet. Super frustrating!!!

Unfortunately you will not be able to put this one off forever. If I remember correctly it will get pushed in a small amount of time.
If you're talking about this in regards to Connect+, there's nothing requiring an update to allow Rivian to cut off your vehicle's connectivity. I haven't seen anything indicating this update will be forced onto those who don't want to update.

To borrow a term from our British cousins, I'm gobsmacked by Rivian service telling an owner essentially that anything up to 4% is an ordinary SOC loss. A 1% daily loss is more than most other EV's experience, but 4% is next level. How is that acceptable?

Don't know what needs to be done to make it happen, but Rivian really needs to address the vampire loss issue. Maybe if one of the Youtubers like Kyle does a video it will get RJ's or Wassym;s attention.

Vampire Drain looks like this for me:
2024.19.4 - Loss of 1.24 kWh per day (34kW in 28 days)
2024.27.1 - Loss of 2.04 kWh per day (8.15kW in 4 days)

That just says you'll receive the download. It doesn't say they're going to force install it. It's already been weeks since the update rolled out to everyone.

I wonder if this is a sign of a 12v battery near it's end of life...
