Most people charge at their home. When are they going to watch a show in their vehicle?

I just don’t understand why this is important to Rivian owners.
You get it. You just choose to be willfully ignorant.

“Most people…“ First, that’s a gross generalization. And generalizations are not statistical fact. You’d have to be a child to not know that. Second, if fact, the one thing you clearly fail to recognize is “the rest” that fall outside of that "most" generalization—i.e. while most don’t use public charging, some obviously do (and could watch a few videos to pass the time). And just the same, while YOU don’t see the point in streaming, others do.

I don’t understand why you know but choose to not know something so obvious. Actually I do. You just want to rant and wonder why the world isn’t full of people who are just carbon copies of you.

Hi
If you own an iphone, do you need to download a particular app to allow you to chromecast a movie to the Rivian? I charge at home so far 100% of the time and this would provide some entertainment while waiting for my kids to get out of whatever class/event I'm picking them up from. This would be my use case.

Appreciate the video and any guidance.
Thanks!

No. It works just like casting from your iPhone to any Google Cast enabled TV and/or devices (Chrome Cast, Amazon Fire Stick, etc.). Once set up, the infotainment screen will show among list of available devices to stream to. Watch walkthrough video of OTA at riviantrakr.com.

Ok, so when will you use it?
Imagine this, you live in coastal British Columbia, and in order to see family, or go to your house, you need to take a ferry. Unfortunately, that ferry is usually over booked and you may have to wait for up to 3 hours in a ferry terminal before even getting on the 45-90 minute ferry ride. Sure you could walk around the other cars, grab a coffee, point at the ocean... but what do I do for the other 2.5 hours?

You know what, I think i'll fire up the vehicles YouTube and learn something about the universe (Cool Worlds channel by the way... fantastic) or put on a Disney movie for my daughter so she doesn't lose her shit being trapped in a car for hours...

Waiting can be painful, and sometimes charging can be as well. This cast feature is a nice to have for those situations.

The downside however to this is cellular network speed slows to a crawl when you have 2000+ people in a terminal all trying to look at the internet at the same time.

The Rivian only uses 4g LTE, this isn't going to work as well as you hope. Maybe if the Car and Phone are on the same wi-fi, but in that case go in the house and watch the TV

I don't know why anyone would watch a video showing that something just works like it does on every other device. But I guess you could cast it to your Rivian.

The update isn’t out for everyone yet and I was hoping to see some specifics of how it works

The thing I want to know is if it supports atmos with Google casting videos.

Just like it does on anything else. I have CarPlay so it won't work for me without killing the CP unit; just a note for others who have that.

I just don’t get the use case. I’m going to pay for connect+ so I can watch a show for.20 minutes will I charge on the road?

Some of us chill in our cars during kids football games or gymnastics classes, or when charging, or if the power goes out and you want heat and entertainment.
