I'm not sure if this is the case. I haven't seen that.

I do like the Chun mount as after I calibrate it, I can manually tweak the position to get it to ride in the lane how I want for my area. There is just enough play that I can shift it a degree or two, if needed. Otherwise, it sets just fine.

A couple of us are talking about this on the Discord and consdering a 3D printed mount for a USB magnetic plug. Janka is in there talking about a potential change too.
Can you point me to the discussions around this? The #rivian and #hw-unofficial channels are pretty busy so I couldn't find anything good. I'd be super interested in a 3d printed mount design as I've been toying with the idea already.

Yeah, Discord is a mess to search/save anything. I'm in the same boat as far as trying to find it again. It was definitely in the Rivian channel, I don't look at the others. Also there's nothing useful other than, "I think we can do this."

It doesn't have to be perfect. How close are you to having it centered? You can always try and remount later if needed.
I centered it to the mobile eye, so the result was a little over 1 inch off center. I drove a few hundred miles with it like that and didn’t notice an issue so that confirms it doesn’t need to be perfect. That said, I just remounted it to be centered and recalibrated. Even if there is no noticeable difference, having it slightly closer to the driver was also benefit of moving it

Another significant benefit of MDAS is less brake wear too. When OP is engaged, it uses the pads to slow and brake the R1, not regen braking. I confirmed this by watching the brake pedal move every time OP lets off the throttle.
honestly this is probably enough reason to stick with Rivian longitudinal for me. I assume this can eventually be fixed.

Openpilot actually doesn’t tell the car whether to press the brake or not. Basically Openpilot just requests an acceleration value, positive or negative, and the car does the rest. So whether or not the brakes are being pressed is using the same logic the Rivian ACC would use. It’s just that Openpilot Longitudinal does a much better, smoother job of requesting those acceleration changes than the Mobileye system does.

Which in turn should reduce that stupid panic braking that the native system does if you let it drive all the way to a stopped car ahead.

Rivian longitudinal also uses the mechanical brake

@Tarkus could answer this question. Not sure if he has tested Lukas's latest longitudinal control to test with a trailer.

add on box will still happen I think but will still require same harness per Lukas
Sorry for the delay in checking posts here & Yes I have towed my 2024 7,000lb Travel Trailer & this Comma 3X works like a charm on every road (not just the very limited highways from Rivian's very limited database). I'm now testing the Lukas-Rivian-Sunny-Long branch & it is Awesome!

Any progress updates? Curious especially about the planned merge of Lukas fork into sunnypilot. Anyone get the additional harness/bridge installed and try it out?

Yes, I have it installed and it is working great! I don't think it will be merged into the main branch of Sunnypilot any time soon, but that's really up to the folks in charge of Sunnypilot. Even the tesla-mads branch hasn't been merged into main SP yet.

I'd think merging into the sunnypilot mads branch would be adequate for my uses, just to get more frequent updates to the core code.

Thanks for the update

Uh......Can you provide some context for those of us just reading through the discussion here. That is a LOT of devices in the cabin. What's the purpose?
