- My name is Mike, and I have a (car) problem
Rivian UI on Google data and algorithms - love it.

Overall I expect this to be an improvement, but I kind of expect it to lose track of my house (Google maps tends to think it is either across the street in an empty lot, or where my next-next door neighbor is). For everyone not headed to my house though I expect this to be an improvement.
I'm not clear why customers driving gen 1 vehicles are "most loyal". I bought two gen 1 vehicles and don't think Rivian should recall them, replace/update suspension & tech hardware (free, of course) so those vehicles can have same performance a gen 2 does.Wow google maps is significant.....
Updates to a UI are not significant. Glad you got an accessory mode, I am actually surprised Rivian didn't claim Gen 1 hardware couldn't support it. That seems to be par for the course.
So no improvements to Gen 1 are possible? Just like "tank turn", "launch mode", ADAS and many others....
Tesla does a much better job. Rivian does not compare with Tesla at this stage. I was rooting for them, but they seem to lack any integrity at this point.
Also I said "essentially abandonware" not just abandonware. Quite getting your knickers in a bind and actually read what people type.
A new UI... Wow... "most notable." You can get mad all you want, facts remain that the Gen 1 are an after thought and are essentially abandonware.
What an overreaction! So far the updates have only had a handful of improvements that only apply to Gen 2. Did you expect Rivian to sit back and do nothing to improve the experience as they release new generations of their vehicles. Abandonware come on!Of course not, Gen 1 is essential abandonware at this time.
Again a massive overreaction! Give it a rest dude!!Wow google maps is significant.....

Where did I say they are "most loyal?"I'm not clear why customers driving gen 1 vehicles are "most loyal". I bought two gen 1 vehicles and don't think Rivian should recall them, replace/update suspension & tech hardware (free, of course) so those vehicles can have same performance a gen 2 does.

I would really like for people actually read what one types and not insert their own narrative.
You may not have used that language but it was used in post #30 by someone else who was displeased that features were not making their way to gen 1 vehicles.Kinda crazy how quickly rivian stopped giving updates to their most loyal customers.
Then you quote their post and respond to that user. You don't quote my post and respond to me with another user's quoted verbiage. You may not have used that language but it was used in post #30 by someone else who was displeased that features were not making their way to gen 1 vehicles.
The car will still process navigation differently than the phone will do.Really excited about google maps!! I can stop running it on my phone in parallel now!
Don't buy a vehicle for what is promised...buy a vehicle for what it can do today. If it gets better over time and some of what was promised actually gets delivered, fantastic! Legacy manufacturers still can't even figure out how to do proper OTAs because their architecture all but doesn't allow it.Where did I say they are "most loyal?"
I have two Gen1s as well, they are the last Rivian products I'll ever buy. I canceled my R2 reservation a while back. I never said they had to update the suspension hardware, did I?

There are multiple threads on topics where Rivian re-nigged on features for Gen 1 only to have them on Gen 2. Before you go and say [the hardware is out of date]... Rivian claimed that the R1s would have the best hardware compared to other manufactures. Yet vehicles from 2018 with lesser hardware have more capabilities than Gen 1. Some of those capabilities where touted as "coming" up to and after deliveries.
So you can make excuses all you want for Rivian and RJ. I simply won't praise them for doing the bare minimum.
This...long time coming for something that should've been an easy change. For me the best update for my Gen 1 is to show the range as a percentage.
