Customer Update​ Howdy! Looks like some of you have already installed your EV Plays and are enjoying CarPlay and Android Auto. For those that require some additional assistance, there is a Getting Started guide on our YouTube channel. Note: I have updated, and will continue to update, the install videos for both generations. Therefore, instead of providing you direct links to the videos (which break every time I update them), please visit our YouTube channel for the latest versions. A few quick tips and tricks: · If you ever get in to your vehicle and your screen is blank (rare, but happens), long click the wireless remote and it should appear. · I decided to ship Gen 2 units with a CANbus connector and module; this does not hook up to anything (YET!) if you have a Gen 2. Just zip-tie it somewhere. I am getting close on Gen 2 CANbus, so stay tuned! · Flicker - an occasional flicker right after, or a little after, switching is perfectly normal and does not affect the screen in any way. It's simply the video signal in the screen re-syncing with the infotainment system or EV Play. To minimize this, I have instituted a 3-second "cool-off" period that prevents rapid switching back and forth. · Video lockout - Your EV Play will switch back to the Rivian screen if you attempt to drive while watching a video. Sorry! · Android Auto users need to use the included wired microphone for now, while I attempt to fix a Bluetooth bug. List of this and other known bugs here: https://evplay.io/community/bug-reporting/list-of-known-bugs The remaining units will be shipping the rest of the week/weekend, and those that have not yet received shipping confirmations should see those soon. Finally, I'm in the process of building out the support section of our Website, including a ticketing system. I'm available via email in the interim and as always, the Forum is your best option. I am trying to install mine but can’t get the unit to power on at all. Anyone else run into anything similar? I double checked all my connections are good.

How do you pair the button to the unit? Mine's fully connected and powered up but I can't get squat to show on screen. Also, what's the mic for? It wasn't mentioned in the install video. Okay got the mic portion answered from the EVPlay webiste FAQ.

Still need the button pairing! And now WTH is the tiny keyboard for?

Mine didn't need paired it just took a second to boot then it worked

I had to do a hard reset. Try that.

It takes a few seconds to fully boot before you can do the switch, make sure your 12v wires are on correctly.

Hard reset = flasher button + left steering wheel
or
Infotainment reset = left steering wheel + right steering wheel.

Which one did you do?

Did both resets and still no power to the unit.

My guess would be power. Check:
- is power connector seated
- are both blades seated in connector
- my power connector had a fuse connection on each lead. Make sure they are still good.

Did you put the fuse you removed into the fuse tap? Make sure you have both.

Can we run native waze and Google maps Spotify etc (any Android app) off the Android interface directly? If so is there even a need to run carplay? I don't have mine yet but interested to hear others experiences

I touch on that in my vid. I won't be using android auto.

And yes you can run native apps

Got it working. It was a loose connection. Glad it was just user error.

Got mine installed yesterday and had a few small issues Alex talked me through and it now works perfectly. I am thrilled with it. I removed my EV Sportline Apple car play unit if someone wants it cheap. Hands down best addition to my R1S.
