Rivian wants me to pay $440 to fix a window rattle while my R1T is 18 months old and still under warranty. Anyone else been able to successfully argue that this should not be an additional charge and how were you able to convince them not to charge you?

That would probably fall under the 1 year/ 12k mile adjustment warranty, not the 60k mile warranty. I’m not saying you shouldn’t push to have them fix it under that warranty but I’m assuming that is why they might not.

Did they tell you they weren’t covering it or did you receive an estimate before an appointment? Because often people are confused getting those work estimates before a service appointment.

This. Unless explicitly told not covered under warranty, it’s customary to disclose full cost in initial work order, for sake of records. If covered, you pay nothing at time of pick up. Most OEM dealers do the same, they may just be a bit more clear in writing.

Get it all out in that first year or you will be paying for it like lots of other brands out there.

My R1T is over 3 years old. I’ve had quite a few rattles and brought it in a number of times. Haven’t spent a single cent.
I’d push back on that for sure.
When was your R1 produced? Different build dates have different warranty coverages. The original 2022 - early 2023 Quads have no limit on adjustments.

Do you have documentation of this? That's the first I've heard of it, even as a 2022 owner...

Interesting, I was unaware of that.

Mine is a 2022 Launch Edition.

Ive had my R1T in the shop for a plethora of rattles over the last 18 months. They always initially show a charge when I get the invoice, but they always waive it. I always talk to them over the phone to make sure. Don't want any surprises.

Would love to know where this is in writing - definitely didn't apply to my truck. They barely wanted to fix a rubbing hood and I only got it under "warranty" because they had worked on my hood 5 times previous and it wasn't 12 months since the last time they touched it, but still was getting decent wind noise etc they wouldn't even look at without $$.

It's shown in all of the warranty information for newer rivians. I think it started in mid-2023. It's the "Adjustment" warranty period.

"1-year or 12,000-mile (whichever occurs first) adjustment warranty."

And previously discussed here: https://www.rivianforums.com/forum/...months-or-12k-miles-whichever-is-first.31370/

Likewise, had my R1T since August. Took it to Glen Burnie, MD SC. Tech drove with me, confirmed door rattle, got R1T loaner. Fixed in a few days with confirmation of a loose bolt in each of the two front doors. Cost $0.00. Great team at Glen Burnie, MD service center.

Yes, they came back to me and said it falls under the 1 year adjustment warranty. I received an estimate before the appointment that they want me to sign, which I am reluctant to do. I am afraid that I will just get charged the money without having a say.

1. I know for a fact that BMW and Audi don't have this 1 year/12 month adjustment warranty. BMW even includes all service in the purchase price for first 3 years/36,000 miles .
2. I did some research and no other car companies have anything similar to this.
3. There are car companies that have 12 month warranties for alignment, wheel balancing or accessories purchased.

Charging $440 to adjust a window seems excessive.
