Ah... I hated snow wheeling in my previous 4Runner. Can't imagine even trying without a winch in a 7000 lbs vehicle.

If you're talking on-road snow...I've personally found that regen improved quite a bit in snow mode since they first released it. It's possible it's less good without winter tires, but it hasn't been nearly as bad as that first winter with the truck.
The snow tires make a big difference, but so does being used to feathering the throttle off vs just lifting any time you need to slow at all. Even with the sport all-season tires on my R1T still, I haven't really had issues with high regen on snow and ice covered roads. Certainly have to drive slower though, so perhaps that's the mitigating factor overall. Driving for conditions.

One thing I'm wondering about is if I enable just cruise control & not Highway Assist (in my Gen1), will it swap out the maps view on the driver display? Or is that behavior only with Highway assist on?

And what happens when I'm towing and the right scroll wheel button is normally for activating trailer brakes?

Maybe I'll report back once the update happens - at least on the first part. I'm not gonna hitch up my trailer right now just to test the latter...

Seems like the new use of the button/scroll wheel on the right side of the wheel would interfere with trailer brake control. Any idea how they will have dealt with that around the driver display changes, Jose?

What situations do you think need low/no regen? I've personally found regen amazing descending the mountain passes here, but what really doesn't work well is the brake-hold while negotiating a rocky descent (climbing is fine). So using Rock Crawl mode with the brake-hold off and firm suspension to prevent bottoming out when you come off rocks works well. TL;DR, there's no one mode to rule all off-road situations, so flexibility is good regardless.
Exactly. Steep rutted descents there's no way to coast while riding the brakes and as soon as a wheel lifts, the truck starts speeding downhill. I don't have a quad so maybe rock crawl handles it better. I don't have a brake hold setting.

I gotcha now. I kind of wish they'd make the brake-hold on/off selector work for all off-road drive modes on the gauges page. Kinda weird they only allow it in Rock Crawl, which as you point out is quad (and tri?) only.

Jealous! I’m still waiting
I was at 92% downloaded when I went and checked about 20 minutes ago. Still haven't gotten the notification to pop on actually updating.
