No phone as a key with the loaner that I can figure out - I'm using a key card and paired my phones Bluetooth for phone & audio.
I just came back from a service loaner with my phone as a key. Rivian just rolled out this feature. They will set your phone up with an invite so you can use it as a key now. Were you able to set up your phone as a key in your loaner? I’ve got a gen2 R1S right now. I hope I get to check out the new stack.
Seriously?! That's awesome! I'll send a message to the team and see if he can set me up.I just came back from a service loaner with my phone as a key. Rivian just rolled out this feature. They will set your phone up with an invite so you can use it as a key now.
unfortunately not at all service centers offer the phone option as of yet. My key card failed with my loaner and I had to go back to the service center to have them give me another. They could not push the “phone” option to me. I also do not have the new assistant either. I’ve got the loaner for at least another week so we’ll see if new assistant gets pushed to it.I just came back from a service loaner with my phone as a key. Rivian just rolled out this feature. I do not, I use Spotify. Or occasionally the radio. An you still use Amazon music?
Changing temperature and vents was great. I have no complaints about reaction/response speed - check this out:I have seen the demos from last year. What is it like for navigating, changing temperature, general speed of reaction?
That was my assumption to that this comes out with the new UX in early June in time for deliveries in late June.I have to assume this rolls out the same day R2 deliveries start.
Rivian's story page from the AI event:This is the Gemini backend? Does it link to your personal gemini account?
Makes me think that if there's any trace of some other company's model in there, it's gonna be so behind-the-scenes that linking to say, a Google account won't do anything. It might work like Tesla did and have access to your calendar, messages, etc. thru the app on your phone.Rivian’s in-house agentic framework enables the assistant to effortlessly work with third-party apps, like your calendar. Ask about your day, navigate to your next appointment, or even reschedule a meeting while you drive.
From a data privacy perspective, I really like the idea of an independent AI only for the vehicle. Even if it is based on a public model, I think they said it will work off-line, so likely the only data sharing will be when the model needs updates from Rivian servers.Makes me think that if there's any trace of some other company's model in there, it's gonna be so behind-the-scenes that linking to say, a Google account won't do anything. I haven't seen a way to do that or any indication of it yetThis is the Gemini backend? Does it link to your personal gemini account?
Nope, people will continue to throw all their personal data into an LLM black hole assuming that it isnt being harvested for some other purpose. I really hate the idea of my vehicle linking to Gemini or another public AI service. I might be OK with Grok in a Tesla, since it is already part of the Tesla ecosystem, but Rivian's disconnected solution is superior IMO. In fact, this alone makes me want to stay with Rivian for all my future vehicles.
Can't wait to see how they improve the R1 in the Gen3!!!
I think this is the case for R2 and beyond (R1 Gen 3, R3, etc.) but not R1 Gen 2 or Gen 1 - they share the same infotainment processing stack (or really similar) and so will rely on off-vehicle compute. That being said, I don't remember hearing anything about it requiring Connect+ to function.I think they said it will work off-line, so likely the only data sharing will be when the model needs updates from Rivian servers.
