I brought my R1T to my mechanic (130 miles away) and together we changed the front and rear brake pads. We did put it into service mode and unlocked the parking brake while doing the rear axle.

After all that now it just says “Not parked yet” and big red blinking error, attached and I can’t get it out of his garage.

I called Rivian and after 2 hours on the phone they want to tow it back to Boston service shop, closest to my home. They say I might be responsible for the tow bill, if it is unjustified and not a warrantable issue. $1600.

Anyone have this issue? Tow truck isn’t coming until 2 days later and I need to get back to Boston but will probably rent a car. Just an unnecessary hustle… I miss my Land Cruiser.

Nothing works. It is unresponsive. No hard reset. No shifting in any gear. Nothing. It’s just sitting idle constantly ON. Luckily I had charged it to 76% but it’s already down to 70% just sitting there.
Rivian says they have it scheduled for Monday evening so hopefully the charge lasts that long.

Yes prior to working on it, we did the “release parking break” option under service.

I wasn’t aware of and didn’t use RiDE SW for anything.
releasing the parking brake doesn’t use RiDE. That option is available already. What additional option is available for changing brake pads in RiDE?

You might try disconnecting the 12 volt battery or pulling the fireman HV loop to see if it reboots.

Rivian is trying to say that the rear brake caliper was retracted or pushed back too far which caused the system not to be able to reengage the calipers.
They say that I “shouldn’t have pushed the caliper pistons too far in”. Nonsense.
To me it sounds like their SW limits are inside of the mechanical limits of the caliper. So it may not have been a failure of the calipers but a failure of SW coverage of the mechanical operation of the calipers.

any thoughts? They’re trying to get me to pay $2000 for this as customer pay.

Looks like OP may have just traded in his Rivian due to this. 8/26 is the last time he was seen. Taking OP at his word about caliper compression, it sounds like crude software engineering caused the failure artificially.

Rivian SCs must do this procedure often. My question is this, "Is the procedure adequately documented and available to an owner to avoid this problem?"

In this situation right now. Going to unscrew the calipers a little to see what happens. Any suggestions would be great
