I keep looking, but I am not yet seeing the 2.8.0 Rivian App yet. Has anyone else gotten it? Some of the features of the update require the new App.

Still waiting on media features like Youtube, Netflix, etc. That would make media playback on the rear screen somewhat more useful.
Every new update I look for media options like the addition of YouTube and Netflix but the disappointment continues. Does anyone know what happened with this? They teased it well over a year ago and said it was coming, even including a video showing it on the center screen. Since then it's been crickets. Curious if there some news on this front that I just missed?

Probably will happen when they start charging for cellular service.

I was hoping they would try again to fix the backup camera freezing when changing from day to night. The last update failed to fix that for me.

Also, the POSITIVE side of the coin:

They aren't charging us for LTE yet.
Why would they…it doesn’t really do anything (optional) yet and is required for the vehicle to operate. It’s a different story when they offer more services via LTE (entertainment, games, more live traffic stuff).

I’m all-in if having nav info on the rear screen if it gives me fewer “are we there yet?”’s
Agreed! In my world he’s 4 and it’s “daddy move your arms so I can see the arrows!!”

It's not hard to imagine that these changes to the back screen are part of work that needed to be done in preparation for media access. I believe it was May of last year that Wassym said, "in the next few quarters" for media and texting.

I do hope s00n arrives in the near future. But I do understand the software group has a lot of balls in the air with the R2 software as shown. Perhaps that is part of the base for media, etc. as well?

  • Fixed a rare issue that caused software package downloads to fail when the vehicle was connected to Wi-Fi.
This seems like a chicken and the egg problem. Is there another way to get software to the car

True. BUT. Recognize that many networks, for example the Rivian Adventure Network and the Tesla Superchargers (Gasp!) also don't make their station availability data public.

This is not an EA issue per se. IMO ALL networks should be making their availability and pricing data public, because that would help ALL EV users.
Ford has Plug and Charge on EA and Tesla, and has real time availability and pricing for both.

I think it's just using the ea app via car play or Android Auto in a Ford. Have you tried it? I don't have a Ford.
No, Ford has direct access to EA live status and pricing, without Carplay or AA. They have Plug and Charge on EA, so are already connected to their servers. The Fordpass app and the in car Charge Assist app have that data for EA, and now also have it for Tesla.
