Mine also showed up late last week (Thursday), just in time for a trip where I was really hoping to have it.

I was surprised at how dense and seemingly well made this unit is. I used exclusively RAN and Tesla chargers on my trip to Cae Cod, and it performed flawlessly. Prior year trips to cape cod have been a bit stressful, especially now that I’m traveling with a baby. This adapter made the trip completely stress free (the stress is more felt by my partner, who grew to have EVs in general—at least for a time—due to some close calls with our Ioniq 5 and EA mishaps).

I was surprised at how tight the connections were on the A2Z at first, and while I hope it continues to loosen a bit and find a happy not-too-tight/not-too-loose place as it gets some use, my initial impression is that this adapter could be difficult for people with mobility/dexterity issues.

On the last day on the cape, I had to help another Rivian driver get his A2Z plug working since he wasn’t inserting the NACS side firmly enough (I’ve found that a form slap on the CCS side helps seat it properly before sliding the lock mechanism).

Another surprise was that I was able to park in the “correct” location (at least at the Provincetown/Truro, MA SC. While I was pleasantly surprised to find out that this was a magic dock, I am driving a loaner R1S, which seems to be paying for all RAN and Tesla charging! So I used the A2Z instead.

Do magic dock stations have more centered stalls?

I ordered mine 4/9 and it was delivered 5/9. They seem to be very good about hitting their claimed 3-4 week delivery window. You should be good!

Looks like you're over the line - was the cable not long enough to allow you to park within the space completely? It looks like that supercharger is centered to the space instead of between spaces like the traditional ones, so I'm surprised if the cable is still too short to reach the left side port.

Magic Dock locations are no different.

The pedestal is centered, but he cord originates from the opposite side as our charge ports to it's still a little bit short even when they do that.

I’m a pretty early VIN, but not confident in how soon the official one will arrive. I figure I have 4 weeks for shipping plus 14 day return window with A2Z if the official one shows up between now and then. Then maybe a lucky forum member buys the A2Z off me for a discount. ?

So I ordered one a few weeks ago to make sure I would have it or the Rivian one by our first summer road trip to New England in mid June. Pretty excited to be able to use so many more chargers from Virginia north.

On the "tight fit" everyone mentions that loosens up, I wonder if "wiping" out each side of the adapter would add to the clearance a little instead of waiting for it to wear from use? I ask because I like usually like to have the car setup for "anyone" (wife, kid, mother, father, whatever) to be able to use without extra effort (even though they are likely to never need to). I do say that A2Z did err on the correct side with a tight tolerance.

On a side note, one of the most cringe moments I remember for EVs was a few years ago when Leslie Stall (sp?) was on 60 minutes or something talking about EVs and the guy took her out to a charger and watching her struggle to plug in a CCS connector was horrible. Of course, I'm sure she hasn't pumped gas or even driven her own car in decades, but still. It doesn't do EVs any favors when someone is like "oh, so it's easy to charge?" and you have to reply "oh yeah, piece of cake, as long as you carry all of these adapters with you... and you force them on to make sure they really connect well... and...

I guess we will get there

That was as close as I could get without straining the cable/connector more than I was comfortable with. This seemed just close enough though to allow a Tesla to still charge to my passenger side. This was my second Tesla station I’ve charged at since getting the adapter, so I was mainly surprised that I was able to get so close to fitting the “correct” way (or the Tesla way, anyways).

I think Tesla can in theory simply redraw lines for a lot of stations to effectively “center” the chargers without having to move anything poured in concrete (aside from curbs on ends in some cases), which would be a much cheaper and more feasible way to reduce confusion/conflict as this network opens up to all the other manufacturers.
