Took my car into service for a few issues a couple weeks ago. One was the poor alignment. This is probably the fifth time I’ve taken it in for the same problem. At first they said they were going to charge me but I guess they found something off with the subframe and removed and reinstalled it but it still pulls to the right. Other than that the truck performs beautifully. They performed the customer campaign regarding the chirping/squeaking at low speeds and that’s not an issue anymore. The ride quality is way better than when I first got the truck in 2022, but this alignment issue is annoying. Should I just take it to an independent shop here in SoCal? I really don’t want to lemon it, but I guess that’s an option to. Surprisingly the tread in all the tires is about the same.

As an aside, I had an R1S loaner with the 20AT and the ride quality and road noise was significantly worse compared to my truck with the 21s.

You probably had a cracked front sub-frame like others have had.

Your Rivian should absolutely not be pulling to either side after the sub-frame was replaced, don't settle for that. Pester them till it tracks straight like it should!

Many will give you some answers that make it seem like you, we must live with it. I disagree. Yeah, yeah each wheel has a motor, sure Riv is a new company. But, come on an alignment should be a standard, easy fix. Well, it is not for the Riv team.

Let me stop my rant. I had to take my T back, at least 3x, before they fixed it. What I did after the last visit when I was told it was within the specs and not a problem. I requested a tech take a ride with me. The ride lasted than 5 minutes.

If you have taken a ride with a tech, or two, then you may need to go to an independent shop.

They said they reinstalled it, not replaced it. I’ll reach out back to them.

Not normal. Not operating as designed. Keep pushing them on it.

My early R1T does not pull to either side.

I've never read that before, it's always "replaced sub-frame".

Mine wasn't cracked and the repositioned and reinstalled it. Fixed the pulling. Discount tire fixed the steering wheel shimmy so now it's perfect.

Well, now I've read that they "R&R" the sub-frame... ;)

You would think that since they "test drove the vehicle for 30 min" the tech would notice the pulling unless they only drove on low speed local roads?

The day I picked up my R1S (june 2024) I didn't take it for a test drive. I got home and the next day I realized how badly it pulled to the right. In San Diego SC appointments are about 2 1/2 months out, so I just took it to a local alignment shop. He had done 2 other R1's with the same issue. I didn't want to wait that long and have to replace my tires, so I just paid to get it fixed. No more pull.

Which local SD shop did you take it to? Having the same issue with the SD service center

Took them 5 tries for me and finally got it right but I made a point to tell them to record that it’s not fixed and should be covered under warranty (this was a year + ago when the truck had under 10k miles) and service centers had little experience fixing the alignment.

Dallas service center was more than happy to keep doing it until I was happy
