Ideally it requires longer life batteries like Rivian will use in standard range vehicles.
It doesn't require longer life batteries. The wear and tear of using your car battery for v2g is far less than driving it. Also, you should be able to limit it to the middle of the battery packs capacity which will further reduce wear and tear of the battery.

Victron is great, there are others.

Sol-Ark is another top brand that can blend power. I have a Sol-Ark 15K and it's pretty impressive. It is on the high-end when it comes to cost, but it has a ton of features.
I'm seriously considering the Sol-Ark 15k for my system install next spring. I've been studying the specs and manuals for the past week or so, I don't think there's anything on the market with all its features. Looks highly flexible. Made in USA..... +1.

It's not made in the USA. The company has received flak for stating that in the past. They do offer US based customer service that is top-notch.

Good to know, I was going by this statement on their web site "product assembly and engineering team are all headquartered in Plano, Texas." But I guess they could be assembled overseas while "headquartered" in Texas...

One aspect of sol-ark to be careful of is the hard amp cutoff at the rated output. Also check the spec for the amp difference allowed between L1 and L2.

The software may be U.S. made, which is more important support-wise than the hardware. I assume Victron, which is Netherlands based, is also mostly custom Chinese hardware.

Being in Quebec, Canada i was looking at something like Tesla Powerwall for my home since we often have power outage from time to time. While sesrching, i found a company called dcbel out of Montreal, Canada. They have made a battery pack / home backup called « r16 » Called them up and said they are currently only selling their product to US market due to the high demand. It basically kicks in automatically when there is a power outage and power whatever circuit you have linked to it. It can apparently charge your ev as well.

could be something useful while waiting for bi-directionnal charging!
During the Munro video teardown of the battery pack they mentioned that the R1T had the equivalent of 9 Tesla Powerwalls. Makes you pray that they develop reverse charging capabilities. It also indicates that the Tesla Powerwalls is the equivalent of the Russian military complex- WEAK!!

Each Powerwall is 13.5kWh I think, which is probably the largest home battery. All the vehicle is probably doing is providing 400v back to the house to be handled by a new inverter. So the homeowner needs to pay for an new inverter, transfer switch, critical loads panel and probably another battery in the house.

Ford is using Sunrun to do the home installation.
