I made this one-page PDF (attached) for myself, shared it on this forum a long time ago but maybe worth a re-share in this thread. I experienced all the things mentioned above, and mostly could never remember what the buttons/actions were without looking up the manual.

I printed/laminated a copy and keep it in my R1T. Hopefully it helps?

I bought a Sonos Move. I expect the camp speaker to be a worthless collector’s item in 5-10 years

It seemed to connect easily early on, then became a bit more difficult, now it takes about 5-10 min to connect (pairing, unpairing). When you do finally get it to work, it is an awesome speaker. Use it when rotating tires in the garage, working on home projects, etc. Have not seen it mentioned with R2 and 2nd gen cars, will these cars have the camp speaker?

Agree with your assessment. The other thing is the random BT connects to my phone while the speaker is docked. I'll see music app show it playing on my iPhone and i have to go into BT and disconnect and forget it until the next time it works.
Same experience here. For me, I was disappointed to discover the Rivian Bluetooth speaker cannot connect (stream from) to my Rivian vehicle. What da.....?

Has anyone tried attaching the crossbar clamps to this bracket? I’m guessing it would not fit

I’m guessing this bracket is for threading paracord through it and hanging it from the ends of the crossbars?

I saw this thread title and it made me realize I can't remember if I've ever even un-docked it. Maybe when I first got my truck? I can't remember. But I know I've never connected to it.

I'm going to take it out and see what else I can do with that space.

I just keep it in my office and sometimes try to use it.

Have had two R1T’s. The first, a Launch Edition, had the same problems. Gave up trying to make it work. Wish there had been an option to get a locking storage compartment rather than the speaker. Have never tried to use the camp speaker in my replacement DM R1T.

It’s garbage. But fun idea. Fingerprint locking drawer is way better in my opinion.

Yeah it's pretty terrible except on the rare occasions when it works.

My guess is that they designed the firmware from scratch, found a bunch of bugs, then realized that the software developers working on it had more important things to do.

Probably right. Why not just give us access to the firmware and we can fix it? It isn’t like there aren’t a ton of software engineers driving Rivians.

Yeah an open source Bluetooth speaker would be awesome.

Wish my Sonos move would work as well as my Rivian camp speaker.

I have experienced all of those problems, and one other: I cannot seem to adjust the sound of the speaker control feedback - its startup jingle is full volume every time. But this one especially drives me crazy:
The speaker continuously made noises as if it were turning on & off every minute or so, which drove everyone nuts.
That happens to me any time I find that the battery is dead and I want to charge it, The stupid git turns itself on, moans that its battery is dead, turns itself off... then turns itself on again! It will do this until some minimum SoC is reached. At full volume. There is no way to intervene to make it stop. Clearly Rivian has its interns writing that firmware.

Yet I use the camp speaker every day because I'm too cheap to buy a better speaker. I also wear socks with holes in them. I suppose I could throw money at these problems but complaining is much more enjoyable.

It's for the locking feature to lock the speaker in place. Also locks while driving around.

Agreed all around with the opinion of the thread. It sounds nice but it's a bit sketchy in operation. If I wanted a portable speaker to bring with me this thing is a bit big, too, so limits the usefulness. I think this was a very smart PR move for a startup but as we see now with Gen 2 and R3/R3 it's a gimmick which Rivian can drop now.
