If you need CarPlay, you have a fantastic selection of 2015 vehicles to choose from. Many of which still have CD players!

I believe it is officially confirmed that the garage door opener feature is coming in a software update. It just isn't available at launch. I could be wrong, but I thought I saw something official from Rivian at one point. It's not available on the R2 yet, and as far as I know it hasn't been officially confirmed whether it will.
By that logic, Rivian should also have a CD player and a cigarette lighter in the socket. So about $60,000 for a car that does not have a feature used daily that a 21 year old car has....
Good to know. But..... it says it's coming, but doesn't say it's the next update or how soon.Garage door opener is literally coming very soon in the next update with gear guard, pet mode, etc.
It's in the release notes.

"Coming Soon"Good to know. But..... it says it's coming, but doesn't say it's the next update or even soon.
I posted this in another thread last year:"Coming Soon"
" While not included in this release, the following features are expected soon via a subsequent OTA update:"
"Soon is an adverb meaning in the near future, within a short time, or promptly."
I did edit before you posted lol"Coming Soon"

I will just say that "missing software features now" will be irrelevant if they add them by the time your vehicle would arrive. Sure, it's annoying for the very earliest buyers, but that seems to be very low volume at the moment. Unless you were offered a "receive it in the next month" purchase slot, I'd be willing to bet that most if not all of the items on this list will be resolved by the time you would have received your vehicle anyway.
- The Rivian infotainment software features that will be missing at launch. Never ever buy a product predicated on the promise of future software features. Also, if these basic features from the R1 can't make it to the R2 by launch, it'll take even longer for software features to be released based on customer feedback on the R2.
- Rivian Assistant
- Camping Mode
- Garage Door support
- Climate Hold
- Pet Mode
- Gear Guard will be present but with limited functionality.
Or maybe they're short-selling Rivian stock.I'm not saying OP is a troll but they posted the exact same thing - word for word, bullet point for bullet point - in a Rivian group to which I belong on Facebook. Rather than trying to be informative, I think they're just trying to get a rise out of people.
What did you expect? Rivian and Tesla have been pretty open about owning you in their ecosystem. Yes, the Rivian UI doesn't have the features you get with Android Auto/Carplay. If that's important, you are looking at the wrong car ,
- Above all, the lack of CarPlay/Android Auto is the biggest factor in my decision to cancel.
But it’s actually really not.. there are so many features inherent in Waze that are not ported or in the API from google maps.FYI, Google owns Waze and it's already well incorporated into Google Maps.
