I have tied my Sams Club Visa to all of my membership accounts and get a 5% discount for EV charging. Costco gives 4% I believe. Some have enrolled in BlueDot for additional reductions.
I got a message from BlueDot saying that they're ending the rewards program in August. It'll be replaced with a more traditional credit card arrangement with, what I'm guessing, less generous incentives.

these chasing category cards have very low spending caps; so yah 5% but only up to a small amount.

Quoting Sams MC info: "Earn 5% back on gas anywhere Mastercard is accepted (on first $6000 per year, then 1%)". $6000/year probably qualifies as more than a "small amount".

Which card?
For me, Chase Freedom Q3 5% categories show:
  • gas stations
  • EV charging
  • select love entertainment
  • movie theaters

Which card?
Chase Freedom - the one with rotating categories. There’s usually a gas 5% quarter every year and it’s nice for road trips. Now they’ve added charging but I’m guessing only a few of the companies are coded for ev charging.

Freedom's quarterly bonus cap is on $1500 of spend, so not a huge amount, but certainly not "very low" if the category is something like EV charging. When it's Amazon or groceries, yeah, it's a low cap.

I am going to miss the current BlueDot perks. I got into the Boost Program this month and 25 cents/kWh has been quite nice, even as compared to RAN:

I'm curious what you're going to do with the extra $40 you're going to save next quarter!

even if you can take full advantage of chasing this category it nets a measly $75 (assuming all charges post with the correct retailer code). It is almost as silly as when "movie theaters" is a category. WTH spends $1500 in 3 months to go to the movies?

I love the game of taking these points, converting it to 3rd party redemptions, and getting first class or high end hotels. Even then, most airlines have been slashing the redemption values now =(
