I had the same rattle but I fixed it adding felt tape practically using the same method, but I thought that since it has adhesive, it will hold a bit better.

Nevertheless, the rattle is gone.
Do you mind sharing a picture of where you put the felt tape? SC tried 3 times already. Even put in a newer "updated" one to fix the issue, but it's still there.

You won't see it in a picture as I pushed it underneath the grill with the plastic trim tools (mine are Orange, not yellow as the OP's :p ), but basically, I cut two pieces about 1/2 inch each and stuck them with the adhesive UPWARDS in-between the grill and the trim.

Here you'll see where I "forced" a gap to open a bit:

Did you do it only for the midsection? or the full length of the grille? Looks it'd be tricky to maneuver the tape into place while the adhesive side is grabbing and sticking.

It's a PITA :) I did those two places with 1/2 tape each as said. So far so good... We'll see when Texas summer arrives if it needs more or that's OK.

I should say that my grill rattle wasn't THAT loud.

Any day over mid 80s, mine sounds like an impatient school boy drumming on his desk.

mine prefers to rattle away on a damp and rainy day....it is making a nice little chorus with the back doors that trade off their rattling.

Mine wasn't that bad. It will be 90 today around here and the truck is now parked outside and should still be OK, but again, my rattle wasn't THAT much

Success. I just used a 12 inch piece of thin cord and pressed it under with the plastic tool pictured. Any sharp edge plastic knife should work. You don't need to spread the joint. Just press the cord under until it disappears. Took it out for a 12 mile ride. 90 degrees and some bumpy road sections. Not a rattle noted.

Starting to sound like the rattle is the from the leather part slapping against the grille, not against whatever is underneath.

anyone try a service visit to solve this? I had a bad rattle in the back of my R1S. Service knew the problem, fixed it free of charge and the rattle is completely gone.

Many have. Some mentioned in this thread. Some folks got it addressed. Most either unresolved after multiple visits or simply not worked on because it didn't rattle on day of service appt. (mine included).

Thanks for sharing pics. I've pulled the dash apart twice trying other methods so will give this approach a shot; also nice FoRS 😉

Bought the same kit as OP @Michael and cut off a small section ~7 inches or so and stuffed it under most of the way (in case I need to get it back out) in the middle of the grill. Will update on effectiveness and photos later, going to be very warm here tomorrow.
