I’ve been planning on an R1S Dual-motor Max-pack, but I just noticed that the dual-motor trucks don’t get all the same drive modes as the quad-motors!

While I’m not too worried about it from an off-roading perspective, many folks have said the best ride quality is in Rally Mode. With rough streets and some potential logging/fire roads in our future, ride quality is high on our list of requirements.

Anyone with a dual-motor feel like you’re missing something due to the restricted drive modes? Anyone know if Rivian plans on developing Rally Mode (and other) drive modes for the dual-motor to be release OTA later? Their dual-motor testing video certain show some rally-style driving…

AFAIK they haven't delivered any dual motors to people who would be able to comment.

No deliveries yet, and they also stated that the dual-motor would not have all of the drive modes of the Quad.

I'm sure they will offer additional drive modes for a price...

FWIW I haven't used rally mode a single time since owning my T so I personally wouldn't care that mode was gone.
I will say Rally is a ton of fun on fire roads and definitely feels softer than any other ride mode. But I wouldn't use it on road.

I've used it on some speed bumps in a parking lot that we frequent. Not only are the bumps large but you have to take them at an angle. A quick switch to rally mode soaks them right up!

I don't understand drive modes. The descriptions are vague as are the actual effects. I would rather the car just figure out the best settings automatically without me having to guess at settings (and pick the wrong one).

Have you tried the different drive modes? You can tell which mode you are in or at least that you are in a different one. The vehicle responds differently for each mode.

Yes, I agree that the car behaves differently depending on the mode.
The problem is that the mode I selected may not be the best for current conditions.
I'd rather that the car sense the conditions dynamically and automatically adjust for the conditions.

Maybe an 'All-Purpose' mode? ;)

I would use Rally Mode daily if it didn't disable the proximity sensors and cruise control. I am not sure its any softer than all purpose, but it combines the soft ride of all purpose with the sport throttle response, which is my ideal daily driver setup. I have submitted this feedback several times but I doubt its anything they really care about changing. So for now I stay in all purpose and drop to sport when needed.

Same here. I've used Off Road mode A LOT but never once tried Rally Mode.

Throttle control is noticeably different between modes, but more subtle differences are motor "tuning" and suspension dynamics, with rally being a prime example where it "unlocks" the hyraulic sway control to allow for more corner to corner articulation.
