No one should do this, unless they already have a buyer. Covid time flips are long gone
You're right on common mass market vehicles and definitely true for Rivian, but not try for a HOT vehicle with actual real demand (not ~$100 reservations) in excess of supply. Try to get a Ford Maverick these days. Try to get a 911 or a Z06.

Agree, it can work for some limited production cars. But if dealer can mark up those cars for 50k, they would. It's completely legal and manufacturers have no real control. If you have a good answer why dealer isn't doing it themselves, go for it. I don't, so I would stay away.

Some cars aren't sold to everyone and have convoluted selection processes, like Ferrari and it would likely work for them. I am sure there are many more exceptions that I don't understand.

All this being said, I've heard there is a guy who has ties to Colorado and makes lots of VERY long videos about EVs that was just complaining about how Rivian wouldn't prioritize his R2 order who is just itching to make lots of videos about the R2..... so, maybe there is a buyer out there.

Ok but I'm pretty sure the initial Broncos were subject to $100 reservations because people who put down those reservations were pissed when they showed up to buy them with dealers tacking on $10,000 market price adjustments.

WHY would you post a pic of the window sticker which clearly shows how much you are trying to gouge the buyer???
That’s the beauty of it, if someone is paying the asking price they know damn well what MSRP is, they simply want their R2 now! It’s just a business transaction, no guilt at all.
