The suspension on the R1T is the best suspension on a production vehicle ever made in my opinion.

It's also one of the most expensive to upkeep.
I never said it was junk. I think is amazing. But, that fact that you hear of so many issues turned me off to the R1 series. As amazing and great as we all think it is, it's a failure point and potentially a very expensive one.

If it helps ease the pain... The replacement parts and repair would be covered by a 2 year unlimited mileage warranty if installed by Rivian.
you were right, just got a call and said 2 years and drive it as much as you want
Damn.

Prepare for $5000. I could be completely wrong though.
Winner! You have advanced to the showcase showdown

Post the service invoice when you get it. i was gonna ask a bunch of questions, but that should answer them.

As a data point

I recently had 2 front dampers (Retrofit with Firestone Gen 2), one rear damper, and all 4 half shafts swapped. I asked them how much it would have been had I not been in warranty, they said 15k CDN + tax.

I had expected mid 20's so not great, but better than I expected.

100%, noise aside keeping a pickup truck flat in a tight corner at a high rate of speed has never been done so well. Essentially no body roll and the limit is 7K lbs and tires. And when it snows and Hotlanta become snowlanta, I just drive over the center medians to get home.

2024 R1T, gen 1, 64,000 miles.... 7k out of warranty.
Sucks, but stuff like that is exactly why we see so many "I'd never own this thing out of warranty" comments here. Aging Gen 1 vehicles have the possibility of creating a really bad rep for Rivian if not handled properly. We know the half-shafts are an exotic design that have been causing issues since the day the R1T was released, the air suspension has also been problematic since the R1T launch. Rivian could offer warranty extensions (which is not uncommon in the automotive world) for these commonly failing parts/systems if they so desired.

I cut my own firewood. Highly likely a giant oak or pine would be on top of it right now.

I have the same issue. Fortunately still under warranty currently at 59,000 miles. Front dampers need replacement. It's being at the service center for the past week. I was told dampers are on back order and it won't be until the first week of August or so before they can fix it.

I did this yesterday...73k miles, all four dampers replaced under warranty at 58k miles. Thought about "do I really want to test the payload capacity out of warranty". Then I reverted back to my #1 vehicle rule- if I can't use it as intended, I don't want to own it. I have at least three more fully loaded trips to make....if my back allows...

OP, sorry your suspension failed and how the SC treated you.

Nice. White oak? Interesting spalting. Will make excellent firewood.

Just moved a half pallet of sod the other day. Pretty sure my truck hates me. The half shafts are definitely pissed.

Truck was just sitting in the drive way after running errands all morning. Get in to go pick up kids and “front suspension serviced” red light on and stuck in lowest height

Get it to the service center right away and they get back to me the driver side failed and have to replace everything because I have older generation. 7k out of warranty.

Awesome

I appreciate the service center getting me in same day and rapid diagnosis but being just out of warranty really sucks.

And they are charging to take off running boards and will not put them back on.

Being told “you did get 64,000 miles out of them so that’s good” and “you can take it somewhere else for repairs if you like” didn’t sit well.
OP, since you are just out of the 60k warranty, I would push for a "good will" repair by Rivian. Done that multiple times with BMW. You can even try to negotiate to pay half, and Rivian covers the other half. Hope it works for you.

We need 3rd party shops certified to fix Rivian. Isn't there a law that they have to allow this to be possible?
No such law exists, they are within their rights to refuse parts, like they do.
