On 3rd set of tires, I own part of that. 28K miles, 3.5 yrs in R1T.
Dude, you own ALL of that.
My 4 y.o. R1T has 40k miles and I still have 7/32 on my original set of tires

And I also still have both of my original 12V batteries.

Just replaced my 12V this week. 51k miles 3.5 years. I have a ‘22 R1S VIN 1700’s. Had no issues until the light came on. After replacement though I have noticed a jump in range. Which is nice. I guess if you are starting to note atypical range loss. Think about your 12V!

I don't mean to highjack this thread, but what I dealt with this weekend seems to fit.

So Saturday morning I went to my garage and had a 100% charge so I could drive up to Milwaukee for the day. I got in and my R1S was completely dead. No screens no anything. Luckily I have the doors unlocked at home or I wouldn't be able to even get in. It had been connected to my app just an hour before when I increased the charge from 90% to 100% for my trip, so it was working.

I was never alerted that there was a 12v battery issue and actually had my truck in the shop three days before to get a tire change and alignment. I tried a hard reset, but nothing happened. Tried pushing the frunk button 12 times quickly to get it to wake up and nothing. Called Roadside assistance and they tried a remote wake up and ended up calling for a tow. "Bricked!"

Shouldn't we get some kind of warning in the truck or on the app that this is about to happen?

Tried jumping it with the new jump procedure and couldn't get it to wake up enough to disengage the electronic parking brake or put the truck in neutral as it wouldn't recognize that I was pressing the brake pedal. Had to have my R1S pulled out of my garage and put on a flatbed.

Overall this wasted 4 hours of my Saturday and now I'm being told I have to pay for new 12v batteries. Interesting thing is these 12v batteries were replaced about a year ago. Something isn't right, but the service center says I have to authorize the battery replace for $581 before they can do anything.

Having done this, you need at least ten minutes of a decent charging current before you even try anything. Otherwise it sorta freaks, disconnects, start over.

I could have sworn I've seen a Rivian document saying they have a two year warranty. The service orders always have the price without warranty, that doesn't mean they are not.

Just had my Gen1 batteries replaced for the second time. First time was covered under warranty, but this time, even though is was done the first time less than 24 months ago, they were not covered. If I paid for the first ones, it would've been covered, but since the first ones were free under warranty, the second set was on me :giggle:

I did now turn off my gear guard at home, would've done this a long time ago if I knew that this contributed to the failure. I was never aware. Truck is in the garage, no need ever to have it on.

I turn my Gear Guard off at home. I was working in my garage, so it's possible it was constantly trying to connect, but to "Brick!" at home in the garage is just plain $h!tty...

That is pretty bad luck, and because the first set was done under warranty, supposedly that means you don't get the 2yr warranty for the replacements since you didn't pay out of pocket. I got the 12V warnings and was able to drive the truck for a couple weeks (though not the most comfortable feeling) before getting it replaced. My next replacement will be DIY with either the Full Throttle brand or OHMMU sodium
