When traveling down the interstate, I see a fair amount of deflection/ buffeting due to wind across the hood. Is this condition normal? Do others feel like their hood is experiencing excess movement in the wind?

Mine does it a bit. But my panel gaps are all good, so sort of scared to have any changes made.

Ah, thank you. I swear I searched the forum before posting, but I must not have scrolled down far enough - gave up to easily.

I only took the truck in a car wash once and I will never do it again. I thought the massive blower at the end would pry my hood open. It really freaked me out.

Aluminum hoods do flex a lot more than steel hoods. The stiffeners and the adhesive on the underside of the hood is used to combat that flex. Yours may need more adhesive. My Cummins has an aluminum hood and it also has some flex. At speed, there is a negative pressure area created above the center of the hood which wants to pull the hood upward.

This is buried in one of those threads. Provided here for anyone that wants a reference to Rivian's own campaign earlier in the year for particular vehicles exhibiting similar symptoms.

Not only does mine flutter at speed and is easily observable in relation to the fenders, but appears dented too. Luckily the "dent" disappears at lower speeds. I'm waiting to hear back from service about it.

I noticed that on a drive home from Bend last week. Every time a semi passed me going the opposite direction, I thought the hood was going to pop open. Will need to have that checked

I’ve submitted a service request. I hate to have them remove the hood liner as that’s just another chance to introduce fitment issue after the hood is fixed.

I took in car for the flutter and showed them the service bulletin. Apparently the bulletin was for early Vin. The newer vins have a redesign hood.

The rep says that there is a slight gap under the hood that may be letting air in, but to fix it would require them to tighten a panel and cause panel gaps. He recommended not to do it. Which I agreed.

I have noticed the same exact thing this weekend, granted we had 40+ gusts and had to drive to Madison, I did notice the "dent" in the front middle as well. Normal driving today I see some flutter but if that's ok and expected, I can live with it. We can't see the hood when driving on our model Y so maybe its doing the same thing but we can't see it happening.

Earlier prototypes used two hood latches, the current trucks use one central latch. Sure looks like that’s what the “dent“ is - the latch holding the middle down.

That's my assumption too. I'll let you all know what Service says when they look at it in January. ?

The service center is going to tighten my hood latch down a small amount while being mindful of the panel gaps.

I believe they stated they will be taking off the cover on the underneath side and doing some kind of "spray foam" to add strength/ prevent flutter without adding weight. It was about that time when the SC pointed out that my windshield was cracked, so my attention got redirected.

I'll know more when I pick up the truck from service this weekend.
