How has the 2023.34.0 Update changed the ride of your Rivian? [Vote in poll]

updated our R1S today and just went for a 20 mile drive, didn't notice anything different at all.

My Dukes of Hazard testing was YeeeeeHaw.

I find it a bit smoother on one of our wavy side streets. Previously you would get sea sick at speeds above 20, now it is tolerable.

R1S ride comfort is improved at low speeds over larger bumps and on rough roads at higher speeds. I think it is around the same as our old LR3 which had outstanding ride comfort. I am VERY happy with this update!

Mine is a noticeable improvement in smoothness. Almost hate to admit it, but it's true. Rolling into a driveway or making a turn in a small dip is significantly better as well. Rivian is really working on OTA updates....

said it in another thread, but they really borked the settings here. should have given us a comfort mode, and left soft and stiff mostly alone. soft feels like a boat now and is unusable. stiff feels more like the old soft and does not feel stiff whatsoever. i do like the low speed improvements, but it rolls like crazy now

I’m honestly stunned at how much improvement has been made. In AP it now rides easily as good as our Land Rovers (we’ve owned everything from full fatty Range Rovers to LR3/4/D5). In sport mode it’s still fun and has that “antsy” feeling to it which I love (everything feels tighter and ready to go). Kudos to the Rivian team. Can’t wait to see what’s next!

I did my usual 80 miles over backroads, surface streets, and highways today. Overall, I'd say there is slight improvement. Different would probably be a better way to describe it. I had never felt like I bottomed out before, but felt that twice today on dips in the road. The ride is bouncier. It might take some getting use to.

I agree it would be great to split the data that way. But doing it here would have been a mess.

Maybe a Google form is worth creating? I'd consider doing it if there's enough interest in breaking down results in that way.

R1S in AP/Soft:

• harshness gone
• rebound damping worse (bouncy)
• lateral roll-control is gone
• accel/decel squat is amplified (bad)

You need a choice for “it’s different”

It’s MUCH smoother over bumps. I can barely feel them anymore.

But I have noticeably more bounce in the front end and more effective pitch. It’s a lot more truck-like than before, which IMO isn’t good. But at the same time, I’m so used to trucks from my past ICE vehicles that it’s pretty much natural.

Overall, I give it a wash. I prefer the driving dynamics of the previous version, but I prefer the bump compliance of the new one.

Note that this was derived from 50ish miles of driving on curvy pavement with sections of pretty harsh bumps and potholes. So not exactly a scientific comparison.
