They should also adjust the price for people with the AT package since that already comes with sand mode. Which means the performance pack if you've already paid for the AT package is basically just sport mode.

I would find it much more appealing if it opened up drift and rally. As-is, it's seems over priced.

Yeah, the lightning isn't slow, but it is slower than the DM with the performance upgrade.
Could be I wont know until they make the upgrade available.

Performance isn’t lacking. Service capacity and consistency in initial quality is.
Thankfully companies with many different departments, staffed by many different employees, can work on many different items simultaneously.

noun: multi-tasking

  1. the performance of more than one task at the same time.
"parenting skills such as multitasking and concentrating amid distractions are easily transferable to the workplace"

  2. the execution by a computer of more than one program or task simultaneously.
"multitasking didn't slow down the smartphone at any point"

Has anyone heard anything recently about (post-purchase) performance upgrade availability? I have a dual and have been waiting for dual performance. (Or is it "performance dual"?)

It would be pure profit to Rivian. And it would make a great holiday gift (to me from me). Rivian said "by the end of the year" and I am really hoping they mean "end of the year" in RJ-language and not in Elon-language.

That extra 1.1 seconds to 60 is killing me. Any news?

All we know is that confirmed that it is going to be a thing, but with no timeline attached

New to forum and wanted to chime in to keep this thread alive. Doesn't look like Rivian will offer this in 2024.

Please don't do this. What value does "keeping the thread alive" present?

I can't be the only one who bought from inventory and wants a performance package. Figured I would make it easier for like minded folks to engage on this topic. But you do you though :)

Indeed, you are not the only one. It would be great if the company provided an update on the status of the offering. They were clear in saying they were going to offer it. Otherwise, I probably would have bought an R1S without the stereo and dynamic roof so I could have gotten the performance package.

Any updates, Rivian? Insiders?

? That's me too. I could care less about that "dynamic" roof ?

Rivian's communications with their customers could be better, but there might a reason for them not announcing the performance upgrade for their duals. They want to push people to buy the unlocked versions from the start. Now, they could have just made more regular duals and offered the unlock option that would have solved this problem but they didn't.

One thing Tesla taught me well is to buy the vehicle based on what is currently shipping and not what is promised in the future.

I will add it would be awesome if Rivian does implement this. I added acceleration boost to both my 3 and Y and would do it all over if I were in the same situation. It enhanced my enjoyment of both cars far beyond the 2k cost. Almost 3 years in now with it on my 3 long range and I take advantage of it every time I drive the car. If you believe Rivians claimed times for their trucks, my 3 with boost runs pretty much the same as Rivian's claimed 0-60 time for the PDM. It made it very fun on a daily basis go from the low 4's to the mid 3's.

For those of us who really appreciate performance, if you have a dragy, or did some track runs with your dual motor or performance dual motor, kindly post your results in the thread linked below. It could help others see the acceleration differences between the different models in the real world and help inform purchasing decisions. It is interesting to see the acceleration curves beyond just 0-60.

Is the difference between base and performance only the SW controlled motors? No other HW components need for upgrade, such as brakes??

From what a guide told me, that is the only real difference. They said a tech could do it in the shop.
