Anything manufactured after March 2023 has the single 12V battery.. and if you haven't been keeping score, that's a good thing!

Alot of anecdotal stuff being posted here....here comes my own included...

Very early G1 QM LRG.

Meridian audio is awesome...still wish they would bring it or something equivalent or better back.

My body build quality is near flawless. No wind noise.

Problems have been very minor and Rivian service has been excellent.

They replaced my front subframe with cast...and half shafts...upper and lower control arms and steering knuckles.

Other than a very occasional clunk from the half shafts on very large bumps...the suspension is silent.

53k and literally feels like a brand new truck.

Only version I would consider replacing it with would be a G2 Quad Max but....the dollar delta really makes zero sense...but I can't rule it out. Emotion takes over sometimes....

But...I would seriously miss the Meridian audio so not sure the performance for me will be enough for me to take the step back in audio and spend something like $60k-$70k and my truck.

Early G1's were very well built before the ramp up in production.

Glad to hear Rivian continues to step up for loyal customers on significant items. Mine is new, so haven't had anything like that come up yet, but definitely makes me feel better.

ALSO - Totally random, but saw your job - we were discussing a REAP grant with Karl over there last year for your facility. I run an ag/climate firm based next door in Maine. Small world.
Small world indeed! Karl is my father. Was this related to a combined heat/power project?

As for how Rivian has been treating, I generally do feel that we have been taken care of, though particularly with our two 2022 R1Ts, I do feel that we’ve had a pretty significant amount of mechanical issues. The two 2024 R1Ts we have four two of our employees have been a little less trouble prone so far, but we also haven’t had them for as long. One of them likely needs front dampers (as of a few weeks ago—hasn’t been in yet).

Our mobile technician and Chelsea’s service manager are both great, and go above and beyond to help inconvenience us as little as possible. We have mostly had loaners when our trucks are in Chelsea, and they generally drive to west Lebanon to meet us in the middle, even driving to Montpelier several times to drop loaners/repaired trucks off.

That being said, having to go to Chelsea as often as we have (our trucks that is), and the sheer quantity of time I’ve had to personally take to navigate Rivian’s internal communications/logistics issues to get the outcomes I think are appropriate (all with seemingly well-intentioned, friendly people, with just about every interaction), I have trouble recommending these vehicles for people/businesses who don’t have the energy or commitment to think/“work” as much as is necessary so far to keep them up and running well.

If someone asked me at this point whether the R1 platform is “reliable,” in a word, I’d have to say no. But I would also say that Rivian does their absolute best to try to fix the issues—it just might take more time and energy than some have or want to commit.

Our original R1T was an early 23; just missing meridian sound, but with the cast front etc - like others here I think late 22 to mid 23 was the golden period for content. The early 24 builds prior to gen2 seem to be when they had the production line most dialed in.
