Just reached 5k miles on my Gen 2 R1S DMP and planning to rotate my own tires. Purchased 1EV Sportline Magnetic Jack Pucks and a 10–ton Big Red bottle jack to facilitate my rotation.

The bottle jack’s stem does not fit inside the empty cylindrical cavity inside the 1EV Sportline jack pucks. The top of the bottle jack stem—the “platform”—is too wide to fit inside the jack puck cavity.

It seems like the jack puck cavity was built to accept a bottle jack’s stem (the threaded part), but not the top platform of the stem (which is slightly wider than the threaded stem).

To be clear, the jack pucks will go over and sit on the top of the bottle jack stem, but they won’t go all the way into the cavity for a snug fit.

What am I missing here? Is this normal? Do jack pucks not sit snugly over a bottle jack’s stem? Or maybe the jack pucks I received are faulty?

10-ton is pretty big....

My guess is they have a lot of different saddle sizes, to match with the piston ram:

Your jack pucks may be sized for a 2-4ton bottle jack instead. I'd reach out to EVSportline to ask them.

Not only did you provide me with the correct lexicon—piston ram, saddle—but you raised a valid point I hadn’t yet considered: different saddle sizes for different specs. I (ass)umed the saddle sizes would be consistent. Silly me.

I award you my thanks and a trophy. ?

Big horse with tiny rider equals small saddle.

Dang, I'm glad you posted this! I bought the 12-ton jack and boy is it the wrong size. Wasn't looking carefully enough, and now I've got an Amazon return to do.

What size Big Red bottle jack is the recommended one for an R1T?

I bought an 8-ton from Harbor Freight. Works fine.

The only catch is that the truck has such high suspension that the jack itself doesn't reach high enough. The cure for this is to cut a 2x8 into 18-24" lengths. Place them side by side on the ground and then a third piece on top of the original two (I criss-cross them a bit) and that gives about 4" of lift. If you need more life, place more 2x8 under the jack. I do this to evenly spread the weight of the truck across the equivalent of a 16x24" patch of ground.

I am going to post a PSA when I am finished figuring out this quagmire. As @ElGuano mentioned, I suspect there are different saddle sizes for different bottle jacks and/or certain jack pucks whose cavities don't match the circumference of certain bottle jack saddles.

I have a note out to EVSportline requesting clarification on why the R1S jack pucks I purchased don't fit my 10-ton bottle jack. Nowhere on EV's website do they mention the specs on the cavity circumference, so a consumer wouldn't know if certain pucks would fit certain bottle jacks.

After doing a bit more research on things, it seems the MagJaxx pucks from Jack Pucks are designed specifically for the 10-ton bottle jack, so that will likely be what I need to purchase to use for my rotation.

I see some of you guys rotate you own tires. How do you do that? I don't see how a jack stand can be used.

Good point. What if you doubled-up two pucks (i.e., stacked them)—would that solve for the height issue?

I asked that as well. Seems like people either get two jacks, or they will jack the truck up by the lower control arm, and mount a jackstand with puck on the jack point.

I don't know what a lower control arm is, so I'll probably get two bottle jacks and multiple pucks if I ever do it myself.

But I will say, $10 at a tire place is sounding like a pretty good deal...

I likely wouldn't stack two pucks on top of each other as that just introduces another location that may flex and topple over as you lift the truck.

I've also noticed four rotations by myself now that when lifting the first wheel, the truck will shift a bit and will require lowering the jack and re-centering by moving the Jack reward a couple of inches. Apparently this is a thing as it's even in the manual on Page 393...

Jackpuck XL from jackpucks.com is tall enough to work with just the jack.

I used megawatt jack picks. They fit perfectly on a regular bottle jack. About 1”diameter.
