My guess is take a tech to dinner….

Edit, My second guess is in a soon to be OTA this becomes a variable value that checks into the mother ship for validation and gets frequently changed.
I am curious too but I imagine it does not matter. They should just give it out since there is already a second level of authentication in the ride menu where you do TOTP or QR based authentication. So they basically already have real security- they chose to leave the first layer as easy/quick to access. I'm sure all the really interesting things like DTC codes and log files are behind that :( I wish at least the DTC codes were available to us all.

Please for the love of god, nobody create any service tickets regarding the information they see in this menu.

This is an internal diagnostic tool that happens to have some interesting metrics for certain subsystems that Rivian doesn't natively display to the user.

If there is any chance they are going to keep this unchanged, we need to ensure nobody raises any tickets. Honestly, the fact that it is posted on the forum is probably already a death sentence for the functionality. Hopefully they are already too far along on .46 to add a change to this pin.

Already concerned they are going to remove motor temp reporting given the number of confused people that have posted threads regarding their "over heating motors".
The temp reporting was fine. The overly aggressive yellow/red is what caused concerns.

This....just change it so the color doesn't change at least during the heating events that are intentional.

Way to go. It's posts like these that ruin it for everyone. They changed the code last time because several did exactly this. I can guarantee you that they'll change it up in the next update or two. You win the stupid post award for today from me. I know that doesn't mean much, but I'm sure there are others that feel the same way.
This...but also funny this post popped today. After seeing a certain YouTuber accessing it in recent videos I was just searching around yesterday trying to find out how to do it with the current code. Sad that means it'll likely disappear again. I'm a scientist/engineer and love data...too bad folks have to ruin it by freaking out about things they shouldn't like the warm motors while the battery is conditioning.

Not disagreeing but based on all of the angst that the gauge screen seems to have generated access to this is probably more problems than it is worth.

Just look at all the concern about the SOH in the mid 90s which is probably pretty close to where it started.

Since the cats out of the bag for a moment anyway, anyone have less that 96% battery SOH?

Also only three things I ever used RiDE for were battery temps while charging, power requested vs power delivered, and battery SOH.

Beyond those, there's not much there the lamen needs or would find of use.

95% @ 11k miles.

I suspect they come out of the factory under 100 …

Also, just got back from about 150 miles of driving. Gauge reads 24%. RiDE says 29% and change. So there’s a 5% buffer hiding in there at lower SOCs, I guess.

Cool data. And like others have said, please don’t open a ticket based on what you see here.
Correct, it's not an exact number, it is calculated. I checked a brand new installed by me Taycan battery last week and it was 97% straight out the box. For my truck personally it shows 92% after a year and a half and 23k miles. What I can tell you in practical application is that when I charge to 100% it quickly drops to 98% before I've traveled 1 mile so that's probably my real degradation, a couple percent

I've learned from this that most people are in their mid-90s, which means the battery packs are consistent. That's a great thing, and whether you are at 92 or 96 percent, it doesn't mean much because we don't see much variation. That tells me all the packs have pretty good longevity, and regardless of your number, the degradation is most likely very stable and predictable.

All of this makes me feel really good about the long-term health of the battery packs overall.

Point taken but I guess I would rather more visibility still even if it requires more education. For most vehicles I have bought the service manual and also benefited from third party upgrades.

Granted EVs are a whole new world but somewhere in the middle might be nice. Maybe the tivo example makes sense here? (Although I suppose it is an interesting question if all of those consequences also apply. I have not seen the pages of licenses that I usually see in the about section for most hardware. I mean the screens explicitly reference embedded linux- you'd think there would be a ton of license pages as well as mandatory source code release (e.g. opensource.apple.com.) Although what do I know.)

Hope they didn't change it to six characters because brute force took a while
I visualized your finger(s) worn to a nub after entering all those PIN codes.
